Sale of Wembley

Recommended Posts

Fascinating article in the Football Pink about the potential sale of Wembley stadium to an American billionaire. Lots of arguments on either side – I'm surprised how many are in favour – but one of the touted benefits is that amount of money it will release to support grass roots football in England.

What caught my eye, though, was the line that because Wembley Stadium was built with a lot of public money, the Government has to be involved. I'm presuming this public money came from taxpayers across the UK. In such a case,  surely Scottish grass roots should also get a share of any income?

He's pulled out of deal anyway. England is ideal country for moving games around the country for Internationals, cup semi finals and finals with the stadia they have. London alone could probably host a World Cup.
