There is a serious question mark over Brora's approach to those games given they were missing key players and their main sponsor didn't want promotion. Also worth noting that one of Cowdenbeath's reprieves went to a penalty shootout. I'd say Albion Rovers' recent uptick in form  would be the main reason to see team 42 as favourite if it winds up being them, while Berwick look like the easier of the two to beat right now.

There aren’t any serious questions, only tin foil wearing hat types think so. Look at how the game panned out - Brora wanted it and were very close.

Captain and top scorer sent off for two needless tackles. Some players ‘unavailable’ due to stag doos, family meals and a works night out.....

Did the game not go to extra time? I doubt a team that was throwing the game would make it that tight. Wild.

They beat Edinburgh on penalties and were 20 mins away from beating Montrose. For a team not bothered about going up they fair put in the effort.

Cove have a good set up now, in their tidy new stadium, and a day out in Aberdeen isn't all that bad.

Their stadium is very poor, easily one of the least appealing in the HL. It's in the middle of nowhere, a pretty long bus journey from the nearest train station, at the back of an industrial estate and you have to dodge death-by-artic to walk there. The only elevated or covered standing are two small, weird metal terrace things - the rest of the way round it's just leaning against the rail at pitch level. The new main stand looks smart, but unlike every HL stand I can think of it lacks screen ends, which isn't great on an exposed site. The roof slopes high above the front of the stand and has no overhang, so the slightest breeze sees a sizeable number of seats get soaked. And the pitch... Lord almighty, it's as bad as any artificial surface I've ever seen. Every movement, every bounce of the ball is met with a spray of black rubber crumb.

I saw them play Hearts in the League Cup this season, they're fit and keep their shape very well but they seriously lack creativity. The only surprise when Talbot turfed them out of the Scottish Cup was that it took a replay to do so. I suppose the pitch must have helped.

They were coasting and then shipped two goals in a couple of minutes with 15 minutes to go.

No. Montrose's goals to turn it from 2-1 on aggregate to 3-2 came in the 76th and 77th minutes.

Some effort from a team trying to throw the game to equalise though and make it so close... or it could just be highland conspiracies to disguise the fact their vastly overpaid teams haven’t managed to make it in the league.

All very interesting but you've left out the most important info.....do they have a social club? If not, where is the nearest pub?

No social club at Cove. The ‘nearest’ pub is The Wellington. Nothing at the ground for punters. Well, they’d a tent in the car park selling cans of beer at some games. The ground is designed for corporate types and you pay at the gate types - even Cove fans - can stand in the rain and wind for all the club care.

Re Brora throwing it - the club signed off on a vital player missing the second leg of the Edinburgh City tie so he could have dinner with his parents at night, had boys missing for stag do’s and because of stupid suspensions. The bench at Montrose was wafer-thin. Those that took to the pitch at Links Park didn’t throw the game but the club’s actions in the week gave the impression that if they didn’t go up they weren’t fussed. Whining about not being able to afford it when throwing a fortune at players cherry-picked from across the north was laughable. In the end it bit them in the arse as the unnecessary loss to Montrose ended Brora’s momentum and its taken them to this season to rediscover anything like the style of football or ability to win that they had five years ago, and they’re still a fair bit behind Cove. The off-field comments from the club suits ahead of the Montrose tie would certainly have had an effect on the players, as everyone at the club was happily drinking the Kool-Aid served up by The Money back then.

If what you are saying is true, then it hardly helps the calls for an automatic promotion/ relegation.

The tackle Steven Mackay was sent off for at Montrose was hoorna stupid. Already on a booking - for diving, IIRC - and he went and wiped someone out in front of the dugout for no reason. Idiotic.

If Brora has kept their mouths shut and got on with what they wanted to do without making a noise, no one would have cared, but they were New Money back then and every time someone shoved a microphone under The Money’s nose he couldn’t resist the temptation to ramble a load of old pish.

I'd fancy Cove over EK.

On the basis that they mouth off a lot in the Press & Journal?   They were just the same last year and couldn't take it when Cowden stood up to them and weren't intimidated. Came across as a right bunch of bawbags who couldn't face up to their failure on the day that mattered.

ICT have played both in the cups this season and Cove caused us more problems that EK did.  And that was when EK were fucking everyone in their league.  The Cove game was about the 2nd game of the season for both clubs so were probably rusty.  EK offered absolutely nothing actually.

If cove are of similar ability to last year they are capable of coming up. IF(and it's a massive IF given last year) they don't lose their shit if the slightest thing goes against them.

Didn’t Cove Rangers lose the first game at home in the play off v Cowdenbeath 4-0
