Although I do agree that there should be relegation from the HL. The potential league below the Highland League only has nine teams and the current champions are Orkney! Why would two or three unsustainable leagues form under the Highland League just to even up the set up? League 2 teams struggle financially, so smaller teams will only find it even harder. A highland/Grampian/Tayside split. If clubs aren't allowed to turn down promotion, it could create problems for the likes of Orkney FC. If they'd end up in the HL the travel expenses would be huge, especially if Tayside teams like Lochee United would also end up there. For the most part these leagues pause for cup-ties the next 2 weekends so an appropriate time to take a look at where it all stands. Albion Rovers still prop-up SPFL2 but they're doing well to only be 2pts behind. At this early stage it looks like Cowdenbeath, Berwick, Stirling Albion will vie with them for bottom. Kelty have moved top of LL on GD, with Spartans tumbling down to 4th after some draws and a surprise defeat at Gala. Civil Service had dropped into mid-table, whilst Edusport claw themselves into the top 5. There is some daylight between 4th & 5th. It's the familiar story in HL where Cove are 3pts clear despite having played fewer games. For example, someone like Orkney or Golspie might not be ready for promotion right now but might fancy it a couple of years down the line.
