Lowland Trapdoorwatch 2018-19

For the moment the exact dynamic afoot LL remains unclear due to the demise of Selkirk... will bottom (now 15th) be relegated - or will they simply find themselves exposed to possible risk under the Cove up/Cowdenbeath down scenario... but that will no doubt become clear in time. For now, with Selkirk's results expunged, the standings are as follows.

EOSL has 3 conferences this season - the winners meet in a 'round robin' with the champion progressing to the playoff.

SOSL remains as before a single division. Interestingly it is currently led by Stranraer's reserve side, ineligible for promotion, and none of top 5 are licensed.

I believe only 1 of the top 15 in the EoSL are licensed, although that may change before the end of the season.  So maybe nothing to worry about for 'Team 15'.

I believe there is still an SFA embargo on new license applications, so some teams in the EoSFL may struggle if it’s not lifted soon.

There’s no embargo on putting everything in place for getting the licence though. Nothing to stop teams taking all the steps and then getting it all rubber stamped when the embargo is lifted.

You are correct, there is not. However my fear is that the embargo will stay in place for a prolonged period, and not all teams will get their applications looked at before the deadline for next season. This is even more likely with there only being 1 person doing the audits now.

Another Licencing Officer was appointed today it seems, hopefully the embargo is lifted soon and clubs can officially get to work.

You’d think common sense would prevail and they’d tackle the clubs in with a chance of going up earliest.

True but not fair on clubs do all that work without knowing if/when the embargo will be lifted.  We need more transparency here.

LL confirm Selkirk's results expunged, bottom still relegated, etc.

So it will be 2 teams out of 4 for the 2 available places in the SLFL for season 2019/20,if their licensed?

I.e there will be 3 EoS conference winners and the SoS league winners?

If not then its applications to join?

According to the statement made by the SLFL, Club 15 is "the bottom club" and will be relegated if there's a licensed champion of the EOS or SOS. It'll be applications for the 16th membership.

Worth noting that, Club 14 would be "the second-bottom club", and would go down too, still with only one coming up (if licensed) and again, if someone comes down from L2 but no-one goes up. It would still mean applications for the 16th membership.

So for trapdoor watch, 14th and 15th could be relegated.

The embargo will be more about a glut of clubs gaining licenses and changing the voting balance at the SFA !

They'll no doubt find a way to avoid the glut, but don't see how they can avoid taking and processing applications from the credible tier 6 promotion challengers at around the turn of the year without the whole pyramid being called into serious question.

They might just grant licencesuccess to like eosfl winners as and when they win if it can be acceptable

Still completely unfair.  Every club should be equal here and it shouldn't depend on if they have won the EoS.   Considering that the clubs were told they couldn't get licensed in the juniors because they hadn't joined the pyramid, they can't then stop the clubs that moved from getting one.

Has to be an equal system for all senior clubs.

Agreed, but it's Scottish football we are talking about here. The senior grade has always been a cartel and they are not likely to want up to 160 former junior clubs joining them as full members over the next few years as that would threaten the benefits that accrue from being part of the cartel.

In one of the threads covering the topic someone has said that the SFA has appointed another officer to cover licencing. Whether that's as a replacement or in addition to what already exists I don't know.

With them already committed to Dalkeith, Blackburn & any other historical commitments they've maybe been caught unprepared and took the summer for a reorganization.

The embargo was only meant to last the one pwg meeting (hopefully). Think that was from June and they meet every other month. So ahead of October hopefully they'll have publicly reopened the process.

Wonder what happens to Stirling University EOS team if Stirling University LL side are relegated?

Surely their reserve side would have to either drop down a tier or out of the EOSL all together both couldn't play in the same division.
