Top 5s Watch 2018-19

In practical terms... unless Threave prevail from 10-11pts behind with 11 games left having played 2/4 more: those in EOSL title round-robin will be playing for direct promotion (if licensed).

What will be the position if Stranraer Reserves win the South of Scotland league?  Will they compete in the EoSL v SoSL Play- Off or will Bonnyton Thistle be allowed to take their place if they finish in second place?  Or will there be no Play-Off?

Apologies for not being up to speed on this one.

The further explanation is that the Lowland League play-off is only for the EoS and SoS champions that meet the required criteria. So there can be no substitutions for a 2nd place team.

There's 3 basic criteria for membership to the Lowland League. Stranraer Reserves fail on 2 counts - they do not have an SFA License. They are also the second team of Stranraer FC and no club can have more than one team playing in a league under the jurisdiction of the SFA's Professional Game Board (SPFL, LL and HL).

Borrowing tables from the other threads as they're clearer than mine.

Great day for the old EOS sides turned into a poor one... Leith were leading at Hill of Beath, Heriot-Watt Uni were leading at Jeanfield and Preston were leading at Camelon, but all lost (as did Stirling Univeristy EOS who'd lead at Broxburn).

Coldstream spanked Easthouses to reignite their hopes. It looks near impossible for Leith to hold 6th. Dunbar have the points, Coldstream the games-in-hand, Lily the meat in their sandwich.

image.png

Dalkeith unexpectedly crashed 'n burned at Burntisland and Sauchie lost. Crossgates pulled out an outstanding result to hump Tranent and Haddington won at Dunipace. Still 2 from 5 here.

image.png

Finally it's as you were here as everyone lost while Blackburn put their feet up.

Conference C seems particularly hard to call, especially as it doesn't look like 6th placed will be a safety net.

St Andrews will be looking for a significant improvement against their set of opponents. The reverse fixtures saw them pick up a single point.

It shows the strength of the Juniors that in all 3 Divisions no EOS  team .  appears to be in a position to make the top 5 :thumbsdown

The EOS  Premier division will be an excellent league for quality and fans alike next season

Preston were an EoS team. Lthv could still make it as could Coldstream

They are all EOS sides now, and it's still likely that at least one team that was in the EOS last season will make it to the EOS Premier. But very well done from the top teams that came in from the Juniors. It's not unexpected, that the top half in the EOS 2017/18, was about on East Junior Premier League 2017/18 quality. Of course Kelty and LTHV last season were very probably East Junior Superleague 2017/18 quality. But Kelty has moved up, and LTHV are not as strong as they were last season.

I'd say it also shows the value in having a budget to spend on players?
