SPFL - what does it stand for ?

Recommended Posts

These are clubs living on a knife edge budget. These things should not happen but we seem to judge these clubs by standards of much more established financially viable clubs. Total embarrassment  from my club today but 95% of the time it's a very well run financially viable club. Complete sympathy/empathy with supporters that have travelled because it's happened to us more than any other club because of the distance/time to away games (not in such a shambolic way granted).

After the Annan ticket fiasco  & the "drought" in  Elgin certainly no professional.

Any suggestions  ?

The ticket thing was just comical. Okay, maybe Annan fans were a wee bit embarrassed but the SPFL won’t give a toss as it’s not reflecting on them. The only question for Annan directors to answer is “why bother”?

Yesterday was entirely preventable though and infortunately for Elgin fans their club has a poor record for fixture completion. The introduction of another level to the promotion/relegation ladder is designed to help better organised clubs with better facilities and better club governance to comply with the SPFL business model. Maybe Elgin are a high standard by HL comparison but there’s quite a clutch of LL teams with very well run clubs, which includes making decisions to invest in 4G pitches. I really like Elgin as a town and the Briggs is a nice wee stadium but if the pitch/drainage is a recognised problem Elgin FC directors do have solutions available.

First postponement in 2 seasons? Farsical as this one was, our club would stand up there with most as how a prudent club at this level should be run. Some of the posters on here should dig a bit behind the scenes at how there own clubs are run and start worrying about them. Peterhead apart!

Simply a misunderstanding on Elgin's part, IMO. They were just trying to win on aggregate.

Well said mate. Afterall:

"Be without sin, ye who cast the first stone".

"People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

etc. etc.
