1b looks a cracker!! The 3 new teams being drawn together adds to that. Havent seen them but have to think Castlemilk are going to be a decent outfit with what they have done in sunday football this season.

Oban will start as favourites I would think but Bridgewater & Blantyre will fancy it aswell.

Premier League looks good aswell, cant call a favourite with that, alot will depend on recruitment over next few wks.

Should be a good season allround for the CSAFL.

Just back from a sun drenched Glebe park where a crowd of around 200 watched the Gow,spurred on by the local drummer boys, win by 7 goals to 4 in their league play-off with The Bullfrog. Excellent watch with some quality play and the usual competent display from Widhaw Tam,the man in the middle.

On today's performance this looked liked a Lesmahagow side that should do well in the CSAFL next season.

1b is as strong a league out there in amateur football (Glasgow anyway).

Gartcosh will win 1a if they have most of squad from last year, doesn’t make sense to have so many strong teams in 1 division like 1b, it could end up with team winning league only winning quarter of their games the teams are so closely matched.....interesting indeed

Looks like most will be keeping an eye on 1b this season! Saints seem to be looking like favourites will be interesting to see if lesmahagow live up to the hype and castlemilks old boys can handle the intensity of Saturday football

Think the leagues were drawn at random? Fairest way to do it IMO, just unlucky for the teams involved the way it’s worked out.

You’d think that there would be more thought to it than just picking teams at random but it doesn’t look that way, a few teams will feel hard done by. Possible new entry’s hoping they would go up in the first season now not so plain sailing

I agree with JBAFC random is fairest way, if it was hand picked then the league could be open to a barrage from teams who are not happy with league there in, favouritism to the bigger Clubs etc.

Bottom line is there are good teams in both divisions so whoever wins 1a & 1b will have earned there spot in Premier.

Surely the fairest way to split the leagues would be to base it on the finishing positions of teams from the previous season? Eg 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th from 1A and 1B go into the same league next season then 3rd, 5th, 7th etc go into the other league. Then any new teams joining, could be split up equally or by drawing out of a hat into 1A and 1B. In theory you should get teams of a similar standard in each league.

If one weak team ends up in the league with all the better teams by chance and takes doings every week 5, 6 and 7 nil then that team could end up folding etc because players won't turn up every week for that and the season would be over by October/November.

This seems a lot more logical. Ended up with 2 Scottish Cup finalist (although Sunday football is different) and a strong Oban team into an already good bunch just seems like it could end really good or really bad. Especially for the weaker teams in the set up

See tbh , I dont really think there are any really weak teams in 1b.

Yeah 1 or 2 may not be on paper as strong as say Oban who will be manys favourites due to recent years cup runs but there going into the unknown. Even the teams who u would expect to struggle will be organised and every game will be like a cup final for them.

I think the leagues are set up great, 1a people are allready saying Gartcosh and Steins will fancy there chances aswell but that no gimme. Be surprises in there too.
