I haven't seen all the venues from yesterday but if they aren't already, bigger clubs will be playing these matches on their training grounds in the afternoon before the season is out, I can almost guarantee it. How does that prepare young players for first team football? I also think there is less of a hiding place for senior players if these games try and replicate a first team environment with fans present, they can't just go through the motions as some undoubtedly will effectively behind closed doors. Again, how do young players benefit from that?

Dundee Utd play games at St Andrew's Uni, just a grass pitch without so much as a result, and 20 saddos (including me) standing watching on the touchline like it's a school game.

Dunno who might bring their games in house, but there's three teams based at Forthbank this season and the pitch might struggle, plus Rangers love Murray Park, so my guess would be them first.

Got to say, I like the indoor games at Oriam.

Not sure if I am taking your in-house comment in the right way, but St Mirren reserves play at St Mirren Park ... or the *cough* "Simple Digital Arena", or are you only talking specifically about Forthbank?

By in-house I meant at their training ground, in response to the post I quoted. I think I read somewhere that Rangers had an agreement with Stirling Albion to play their games there, which struck me as a problem as Stirling Uni also play there. But I see Rangers' next game is scheduled for Murray Park anyway.

I'd 100% go and watch reserve league games, but the 2pm week day kick offs mean that's only going to happen if I'm off on holiday when the Mrs is at work (maybe in February! I agree that it's not really the ideal way to prepare youngsters for first tam football if they're playing in front of 20 people

Dundee 3-2 Hearts. Cedwyn Scott (2) and Matt Henvy on target for the Dark Blues.

I find this hard to believe, I had been led to believe by listening to Alan Preston that hearts youth team was invincible?
