Montrose v Brechin

Recommended Posts

Montrose were absolute bobbins today, yet still won.

A better side would have dispatched us comfortably.

With a bit more fitness and someone who could finish, Brechin would have won.

Its a learning curve for us at this level and we’ll take the ugly win.

Worrying how we took our foot off the gas when 2-0 up - and still in the first half!  Credit to Brechin for getting into the game more but quite honestly Mo should have gone for the jugular - but didn't. In the end we were hanging on. Still, a win's a win so rant over.

Just as well we have a strong line up on the bench these days so SP can change things around during a game.

Although known to be an arty farty,  hadn't Ivo down as a thespian t.b.h. Great having diversity on P&B and being able to justify wasting time here, on account of it being edutainment.

e.t.a. good result today too

But true.

Thought you played well to be fair,we took a deserved 2 lead no doubt but second half you guys were on top.

Could have played all night and not scored such is the lack of attacking invention.  A hit and hope punt is not the way to win games.  Brechin teams of the past have been known for their attacking flair but now we are a one dimensional shambles when chasing games.............................which seems to be the norm now after gifting teams 2 goal starts.

Strange game. For the first 25 mins it looked like we were going to rip Brechin apart. Then we totally lost control of midfield, gave away a sloppy goal and should’ve conceded another. Second half we forgot how to pass the ball and gave up loads of possession. That said Brechin didn’t create a real chance and the Seagull wasn’t tested at all. At the other end Dillo and Rennie could/should have scored. Think we’ll have to improve on that performance going forward .. but I’ll happily settle for 6 points out of the first 3 games.

Agree with all above: was a really strange game. Should have been well clear by half time, and added some extra in the second half, credit to their keeper pulling off some good stops from Rennie, Antoniazzi and Dillon. And yet Brechin could have gone in at 2-2 and troubled us for large parts of second half. Good to grind out the win though.

Tireless running from Henderson all day. Was unlucky to fresh air one of his second hand chances in the box. Work rate of him versus that of Rennie was a little worrying in the final 15 minutes. Some of Watson's tackling was superb today.

Third in the league, and second in the Angus mini league. Good start to the season!

Watson  was very good first half and broke down a lot of our stuff, deserved his motm but he got owned by hill in every tackle, even the one he blind sided hill he just bounced off him, next tackle between the both of them Watson got left in a heap!!!

I thought for the standards he’s set and how Ive seen him preform hill was below par today but still comfortably one of our better players kind of old school Center half but on his day can play abit didn’t see the second part of his game enough today tho , burns had an off day as did Jackson , thought apart from the goal Boris was poor, sinclare and tapping had quiet games, moreno I just don’t know what he gives the team, mcgeever was ok needs games and lost his man for the first goal,, Conor was good, Kalvin is a typical winger hot and cold, he has a bit of magic tho,  Smith is a hard one I thought pen was really soft and that obv makes you think he was poor but I thought he was ok apart from that,

Knew you’d beat Brechin. emoji51.png

Must be in your highest placing in a very long time? Well done. Might be a good season for you guys afterall, seemed a bit doom and gloom after opening day.

By my reckoning this is our highest league placing since the 91/92 season, when we finished 11th in the first division, which was 23rd overall in the league at that time.

English slang is not really well known in darkest Angus. Maybe you should try the work keegh next time? (although i didn't think we were keegh today!)

The late wacky comic Frank Sidebottom was fond of the word 'bobbins'.
