Being quite an auld c**t I was there before a lot of the cliches started.

You can see how one day somebody turned an old cliche round for a laugh, then next day everybody’s using it. So we get “on the front foot” and “defeat from the jaws of victory” which are a bit shit.

I also hate “runs into traffic” and “we can kick on”.

Then there’s all the misheard thicko player cliches like “we equipped ourselves well” when they heard somebody the week before saying “we acquitted ourselves well”.

"Whitehill are seeking a new manager"..... ;)

“That could have gone anywhere” no it could not, because it went there!

“you never win anything with kids”

“I don’t think it was a penalty/free kick, as he only just clipped him”  the last I checked a trip or clip of another player, no matter how hard it is, was a foul.

“That’s a bit optimistic from that range” this when someone has a shot from long range, so what no player should try and score from long range? When it ends up in the net, they never mind.

“He had much better options to his right or left” when a player takes on a shot and does not score. But the players that are the better option, could well have screwed up as well. Again, if the player scores, all in fine.
