Where’d the welfare thread go?

surely not!

Recommended Posts

As a club, Welfare need to now work hard to promote ( or identify or create) something they have that appeals to players when there’s not a lot of cash available.

This could be working with a particular coach, quality facilities, great playing surface, long term plan etc but at the moment there doesn’t seem to be anything to entice quality players (who don’t always chase the cash).

That’s assuming that good players have been identified rather than actually going after poor players though.

Which is maybe why a new manager should've came in at the END of last season. Start afresh new ideas new players. Old ground now but you can't deny an absolute horrific run of results :whistle

looking back we have been a mid table team since the LL was formed, leaving it into April before avoiding relegation last season. Other clubs have gone forward in the last two season, Strollers for one, but we seem to have gone backward and the reality is unless we start winning soon we will be bottom of the league at the end of this season.

Managers are always scapegoats, no matter how bad their players let them down, but do you think a proven manager would want The Welfare job in our current position?

Correct...if u look at the old pictures in the club room very few people comment on the manager,it's always about the good players in a certain team, one other things  for sure the current team won't be remembered in future times, harsh but true

Sadly you are right magoo, how many can remember all the glory day managers, Mr Lawson apart?
I feel for the young lads as being thrown in when things aren't great must be difficult for them, but as you say they will be remembered for the wrong reasons.....

There would 100% be someone better than the one we’ve got just now

I remember managers, it's just u don't look at pictures and think he was a great manager, like you do with players

Which is ironic because based on all we’ve heard about welfare on this thread, it’s likely those great players chose to play there because of those great managers

Not really. When Davie Smith left for Montrose the same players stayed for years after winning honours, a ne2 manager never had that much a difference to personal
