Rumour at our game yesterday was that Spanks has been lined up for the job, and that he’s made it known to Maybole for a couple of months that he wants the job.
He will bring in players, he did that with us, but who will he get to do the more tactical side of things?

So has he took the job?. Be Intersting to see what happens down there then. Let's be  honest it can't get worst.

Decent three points for us after going behind at Maybole. Didn't look anything like a team that had been scudded 14 - 0 the previous week.
Good to be off the bottom of the table.
Tricky game next week at home to Shotts, but hopefully start to build up a bit of momentum now.

Gartcairn continue their unbeaten run with a 3-1 victory away to a hard working East Kilbride.
As seems to be the norm Gartcairn scored in the opening minutes , Dylan Mcguigan slotted home after a delightful thru ball from giggsy.
East Kilbride didn’t let the early goal effect and hustled and bustled the cairn defence and midfield.
On the 26th minute a looping cross caught out the young Gartcairn keeper and he watched agonisingly as it floated over him into the net.
East Kilbride took a spur from this and continued to hassle Gartcairn although after Jamie Leslie was upended in the box kev Ross scored from the spot to take a lead 2-1 into the break.
Summary of first half 50/50 although cairn defended well and took their chances.

Second half it was clear the gaffer has had a chat and cairn came out on a mission.
Gartcairn commanded the second and were first to most balls, roundabout seventy eight minutes the cairn put thru a great ball only for the ek defender to handball it, jal was clean thru but the ref had pulled it back.
Deco stepped up to take the free kick and duly slotted home to seal the points.
Good day at the office against a team that will take points from many, if it hadn’t been for the ek keeper the score line could’ve been a lot higher.
Thanks to all at East Kilbride for their hospitality and banter, cakes were delicious, all the best for the season

Man of the match Gary Mcmullen

What a result for Gartcairn today beating super premier team Kilbirnie ladeside on their home pitch. The cairn where forced by the sjfa to play away from mtc Park, there was a couple of options but eventually we accepted kilbirnies offer to play there.
Great set up and hospitality so we thank you for that.
As for the game, kilbirnie opened us up a few times early on and deservedly scored the opener, just after the ref awarded them a penalty as the young keeper fouled the attacker bearing down on him, thankfully the resulting penalty rebounded off the post and kicked to safety.
This got Gartcairn going and after a few attempts eventually Kevin Ross squeezed one over the line from a corner.
Half time 1-1 but could easily have been 4-4

Gartcairn for me were the better side in the second half and took control with kev ross getting a deserved second, this seemed to deflate kilbirnie and shortly afterwards deco Thomas Kilmartin scored an absolute peach of a free kick to take us to 3-1
The gaffer Jamie Mckenzie made a few changes to see the game out.
Kilbirnie pushed again and scored on the 89th minute to make it squeaky bum time but the cairn saw it out to win 3-2.

Summary, underdogs took the day.
Great team performance but special mention to young Chris the keeper, kev and deco.
Enjoy your night lads

Scottish Cup run over for Maryhill this year.

Wind up in Dundee was a spoiler on the day and really caused havoc for both teams, that said however, it's not to blame for us going out.

Didn't show up for the first half and deservedly went in at half time 4 - 0 down.

Bit of a fight back early doors in the 2nd half saw us pull it back to 4 - 2 with half an hour to go. Unfortunately that was the end of the scoring.

Back to league business on Saturday as we visit Lugar hoping to keep up our recent good league form and carry on climbing the table.

Footballs always about opinions and we all have our own, this is mine for today....

Gartcairn 3-1 ...half time 1-1

First half we weren’t at the races, don’t know if we’re beginning to believe our own hype but this was a harder game than last week. First half for me belonged completely to yoker took the lead early and had loads of pressure although not the best in front of goals, we also had a couple of chances and thankfully took one thru an exquisite lob by giggsy( Ryan Donnelly) to go in even at halftime.

Don’t know what the gaffer said at half time but he got the boys back to doing what we do best.

Worked hard with the ball on the deck and stretched the game, Jal decided to turn up for second half and turned on the style weaving thru the defence only to be brought down in the box.

Kev Kevin Ross stepped up to slot the ball home to continue his goal scoring spree, yoker then had to push to get the equaliser leaving gaps for the cairn boys to expose.

It was that man Barry mcgeechan again taking the ball wide to fire across and Darren Bowie to smash it into the net, game over.

Mom jal Jamie Leslie

In short...hard fought victory yet again but a deserved win, typical game of two halves.

Yoker a decent team and will do damage to others, all the best for rest of the season.

Great 3 points for us today away to Yoker.

like to say well done to all the players at Yoker who battled very well against what was essentially 12 men, the referee was woeful, thankfully, in our favour!

Great hospitality from Yoker and wish you all all the best for the rest of the season, you’s battle like that every week and you will do ok!

Another three points on the road.

Firstly I’d like to say thank you to players, committee and staff who joined us in a minutes applause to celebrate the life of Chris Armstrong, thank you.

Also thanks to peter for his very generous donation to our charity and for his usual hospitality.

This was a game with last seasons top two clubs from division two, royal Albert having an indifferent season so far and Gartcairn unbeaten so far with only two draws.

Game started at a pace and a returning Barry Mcgeechan brought the tempo up , Ryan Donnelly came in for some tasty treatment from about five different Albert players each one taking a turn, a frustrated giggsy eventually got booked after letting the referee know he was giving him no protection.

Half time 0-0

Second half started with the cairn in command , a barry mcgeechan free kick was floated to the six yard line and captain Kevin Ross headed the ball past the flailing keeper. 1-0

Albert up the pace in search of the equaliser and eventually got it, with more than a suspicion of offside.

Both teams pushed for the winner and it was that man Sherman who poked home to make it 2-1.

Albert then had the ball in the net only for the ref, rightly this time, to call it offside.

With Albert pushing it was giggsy who sealed the points with his delightfully trademark lob to make it 3-1 and kill the game off, it was no more than giggsy deserved after some of the treatment he received in the first half.

Another three points, just .another day at the office

Mon the cairn

Man of the match barry mcgeechan.

Summing up, first have very physical with both teams giving everything, there was even a ball involved at times, second half deservedly belonged to us and rightly took the three points.

That win was for you Craig Armstrong

Gartcairn or Shotts would be worthy winners...both by far the strongest in this league....

was hoping for easy consolidation for Shettleston but still find ourselves fighting to stay in this league....draws not helped...:thumbsdown

Todays result losing 4-0 to Winton Rovers summed up our season .........poor

Agreed, Even though we beat Gartcairn earlier in the season they beat us conveniently in the reverse fixture. They will hold on to come out league winners for me but as you said both would be worthy winners
