Sex pest MP resigns Labour Party ahead of hearing into his sex pest activities and blames Corbyn’s ‘anti-Semitism’.
Aye right pal.

Almost as incredible as his brass necked colleague Fiona Onasanya claiming that she will deliver a Jesus like resurrection of her political career, after being found guilty of perverting the course of justice following a speeding offence.

Claiming she was in good biblical company, with Joseph, Moses and Daniel, here’s what she had to say...
“While God did not save them (her brother was also complicit) from a guilty verdict he did save them in it, and ensured that their greatest days of impact were on the other side of a guilty verdict”.
(What does that even mean ffs??)

"Of course this is equally true of Christ who was accused and convicted by the courts of his day and yet this was not his end but rather the beginning of the next chapter in his story.

"Please pray that my family will find peace and strength in his perilous time through this guilty verdict."
Unsurprisingly, she has refused to step down as an MP.

Who elects these absolute f*ckin nutters to represent them!!?

Says more about the Labour Party’s selection process than the election process imo.

I guess so GD, but all parties appear to have their fair share of these Charlatans and who we elect to run the show on our behalf? No other position holding a similar weight of responsibility to the public seems to carry or demand such a low level of integrity.

Are the usual quorum of Uber socialists on here actually trying to defend or deny Corbyn's faux pas. Oh my oh my....

It seems to be that well known Corbyn commie welshbairn that’s denied he said it. I don’t have a clue either way.

You have to remember that the folk who get to be the candidates are the ones who were organising politics clubs at school, mock elections at uni, doing their stint as a councillor or a spad or whatever for years. In other words, weirdos.

Not my experience, though I haven’t been heavily involved in over 20 years.

This has really become such a fcuked up country it's untrue.

It's almost seen as normal now to dismiss the likes of the homeless issue and the decimation of our public services as some sort of communist driven agenda sideshow, and instead spend hours upon hours of media focus on complete and utter trivialities, which of course can only be for one reason and that's to divert the attention away from the real issues.

We're heading towards a global recession (all the indicators are there), Brexit is an absolute shambles which will undoubtedly cost this country dear both immediately and for years to come, we have a certifiable lunatic in the top job in the whitehouse and we have a power mad psycho occupying the top job in the Kremlin and yet we continue to highlight nonsense and ignore the real issues which surround us.

Corbyn has proven himself to be a weak leader surrounded by a bunch of backstabbing and mostly incompetent fools, however there's most certainly a concerted hatchet job being done on him and quite frankly I find it all very boring, pathetic, and indeed a very sad indictment of where this country currently stands and where it's heading.

Honestly, I do believe we're screwed.................

Well it's a sad day when I find myself agreeing so wholeheartedly with an Ayr fan, but we are where we are.

Strange days indeed.

Nick Cohen is continuing his journalistic dirty protest.  He now seems to be focusing on McDonnell, Milne and Murray because people actual like Corbyn. This week's meltdown involves the usual Stalinst-Islamist alliance claim and comparing Corbyn's position on Brexit to Lenin's on WW1. But he completely misrepresents Lenin's defeatist stance and outright lies that Lenin was in favour of WW1.

The Observer is an absolute shambles. It just seems to make up stories it hopes will come true and is run by people who were irrelevant a decade ago never mind now.

Reading that after Corbyn has clarified his position on Brexit I find little to disagree with, including Lenin on WW1.

I assume you have maintained the habit of a lifetime and haven't read the article.

Lenin established the doctrine of revolutionary defeatism during the First World War. He had no time for “banal” socialists who were campaigning for peace. The true communist welcomed war and yearned for the defeat of his country. For a defeat, in Lenin’s case of Russia by Germany, would incite “hatred of one’s own government and one’s own bourgeoisie” and bring the revolution closer.

This is false because (i) Lenin didn't welcome war. Along with Rosa Luxembourg, Karl Liebnecht, Jean Jaures, Kier Hardie and many other prominent European socialists he was a rare voice against the war. (ii) Lenin didn't yearn for the defeat of Russia he yearned for defeat of the Russian government (which he had been trying to bring about for two decades) Anyone with the capacity to think reasonably would recognise it would be incredibly stupid to try and bring down a government for two decades then abandon that policy because the government launches a war that is killing millions of workers and peasants.

What actually happened is obviously more relevant than what was published. As Lenin predicted the Russian government fell. The Soviets made peace with Germany (on expensive terms) but Russia was not defeated. The war ended months later because of a Germany sailor's mutiny in Kiel which brought down the German government. Cohen is extremely aware that the vast majority of his readers are unware of these events and is keen to create a false impression of Lenin hoping for German victory.

The Germans were already defeated when the sailors mutinied, supply lines were blocked and 10,000 American troops were arriving every day. All they did was speed up the surrender a little. Lenin was happy for Russia to be defeated by whomever, Germany if necessary, it's pedentary to distinguish Russia from its Government in times of war.

The Kiel sailors ended the war by overthrowing the Kaiser. Russian soldiers, sailors and workers defeated the Tsarist government. These are historical facts.

"it's pedentary to distinguish Russia from its Government in times of war." could only be said by someone who has never read Marx.

How long do you really think Germany would have delayed surrender if there wasn't a mutiny in face of imminent defeat? The arrival of endless numbers of American troops and supplies won the the war, the mutiny was just a symptom of German collapse.

Does Corbyn have any practical plan to avoid a hard brexit? There's no way of doing so without Labour Party support, unless the DUP and ERG cave into May. But they have no reason to do so whilst Corbyn remains committed to Brexit. His red lines make a Customs Union impossible, he refuses to consider May's deal, so without a Labour rebellion it makes a hard brexit inevitable. Economic chaos, loads of closures and redundancies, and a brand new shiny election in 2022. Except the voters will remember that Corbyn did fuckall to stop it.
