The normalisation of the far-right continues

P&B really could use one of those Twitter tags for previously-banned bad faith alias accounts. It would save a bunch of time for the folk who feel compelled to refute the rubbish that they undoubtedly don't even believe themselves.

It will if articles like that keep being produced.

‘Far-right’ used to be a term to describe nazis and racists.  Now they’d try and have you believe it applies to anyone with traditional, wholesome values.

Tipped to be Italy's next Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, leader of the Brothers of Italy party

Quote

“There is no middle ground possible,” she said. “Today, the secular left and radical Islam are menacing our roots … Either say yes, or say no. Yes to the natural family, no to the LGBT lobbies … Yes to the universality of the cross, no to Islamist violence. Yes to secure borders, no to mass immigration.”

Fascism in Europe is like the White Walkers.  It never went away, it just hibernated waiting for the chance to re-emerge.

It seems they were waiting for all the folk who experienced it the first time round to die off before a round two.

Makes sense, when you think about it.

The whole military love-in is only happening because there's barely anyone left from the World Wars to point out what a bunch of dangerous shite it all is.

'The universality of the cross'.  Good luck with that in contemporary Europe.

Nobody's coming out with stuff like that and thinking, "this is great, but have we got anything we can use to appeal to the people who don't worship Jesus?"

Quite right.  It is a disgrace of cheese import proportions that followers of Odin, Zeus, Poseidon and Ra are ignored in these considerations.

Myself and other pastafarianismists are feeling very marginalised.

As Michael Rosen wrote:

Fascism: I sometimes fear...

I sometimes fear that
people think that fascism arrives in fancy dress
worn by grotesques and monsters
as played out in endless re-runs of the Nazis.

Fascism arrives as your friend.
It will restore your honour,
make you feel proud,
protect your house,
give you a job,
clean up the neighbourhood,
remind you of how great you once were,
clear out the venal and the corrupt,
remove anything you feel is unlike you...

It doesn't walk in saying,
"Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."
