The normalisation of the far-right continues

Tommy Robinson.

6 months ago nobody had heard of the c**t, and if they had it was only to recognise him as an ignorant, racist nutter.

Today I had the car radio on and listened as BBC 5Live gave this guy a full 20 minutes of coverage, including having a reporter outside prison waiting breathlessly on his release.

This is what the BBC did with Farage. An irrelevant nobody with extreme views was suddenly given constant mainstream publicity allowing him to use dog-whistle politics to appeal to the lowest common denominator......before you know it Farage is never off TV, and his views and those of UKIP are now those which control the Westminster government.

Robinson is getting support from the dangerous figures on the far-right...Wilders and Bannon being only two....and I can't help but wonder if there will be forces at play over the next months pushing Robinson ever more into public consciousness, and therefore normalising his extreme views.

God, I hate the UK.

The fact that you see views you don't like being given airtime as a problem says a lot about you.

Terms such as 'far-right' and 'racist' have largely lost their meaning because of their overuse.

Couldn’t be more correct.

Nigel Farage has never been ‘far-right’. I think I once voted UKIP until they forced the Conservatives to become more acceptable. Same with the Brexit Party which again revitalised the Conservatives and brought about Brexit.

Some of those terms are just nonsense.

During these Covid times it has been the left which has been the most authoritarian and illiberal.

That wiki article pretty much backs up my assertion.

Why did you choose such a username though? Is it related to this term? If the wiki is incorrect then what would you define a Groyper as?

The groyper was an adaptation of the pepe meme, first used by Nick Fuentes to symbolise someone waiting for an answer after asking a difficult question.  His fans would buy tickets to ask difficult questions of conservative speakers in front of an audience.  After a while, his followers became known as groypers in general.

Yeah mate, the wiki article is incorrect.  Anyone to the right of Stalin is a deemed a far-right, KKK-loving white supermacist with links to Anders Breivik these days.

So in the absence of actually answering why you chose that username I would have to guess that you're a stan of this Fuentes character, after a quick google search it has him down as a white Nationalist Trump supporter who's made anti semitic remarks frequently, some boi!

What brought you to a Scottish football forum out of interest?

No need for the hostile tone buddy.

I chose the username because I like what the groypers represent.  We should always be showing free thought and questioning the narrative.

I don't mean to sound patronising, but you're probably best off taking what you see in a google search with a pinch of salt.  If you're really desperate to slag off my username then I'll respond to allegations of things he's specifically said or done, but I'd be far happier just conversing about the issues of the day rather than defend my username :D

I'm a fan of Scottish fitba and have always known about this place.  I've largely lost interest over the years due to increased commercialisation, but it's something that never leaves you IMO.  How about you?
