The normalisation of the far-right continues

Heard whisperings that Farage leaving UKIP and moving to his own Brexit party has caused the new UKIP leadership to go full on far right BNP type policies, so concerning that they're polling close to 10%
Yaxley-Lennon getting an easy time from the MSM - they really need to expose that b*****d for what he is.

Surely it's less about the internal politics of the party and more that they're perceived as the same party as they were before Farage left? Imagine if we hold EU elections though and send Sargon of Akkad and Count Dankula to Brussels. We'll be booted out by the EU without a deal just for the cheek.

I get your point but I doubt many of the people who currently vote or voted UKIP in the past will look very far beyong that acronym to scrutinise personnel or policies.  A sad indictment of a section of the UK electorate I know, but I'm afraid it was ever thus, as decades of Scots voting for monkeys in red rosettes demonstrated.

The Peterson vs Zizek debate actually happened last night.

Apparently Peterson hadn't read any of Zizek's books and prepared by reading the (64 page) Communist Manifesto. Going by reports he seemed confused by mentions to Das Kapital

Makes a change from him just cribbing his notes from Wiki.

Some people are suggesting that he was Googling Zizek's topics on stage.

It's absolutely perfect that the right wing poster boy knows genuinely nothing. It's probably down to the fact that all the serious right wingers are too busy asset stripping Africa and Latin America to be internet sensations but surely they could do better?

He doesn't have to be. The defunding and general undermining of the humanities allows hucksters like him to repackage debunked thinkers and come across as a genuine intellectual. On the wiki thing, try and see if you can find his thoughts on Derrida. It's pure plagiarism.

It's completely obvious he hasn't read any of the people he has set up as bogeymen. Shuja Haider's response to him is a good read https://www.viewpointmag.com/2018/01/23/postmodernism-not-take-place-jordan-petersons-12-rules-life/

Peterson's jump to fame is probably just down to lots of men in the media being delighted to have someone put a veener of respectability on old fashioned sexism.  I saw this for the first time this morning, the guy is a moron.

Can't stop laughing at someone who's spent that much time 'critiquing' Marxism admitting that he actually read the Communist Manifesto for the first time this week. You absolutely love to see it. It's like 64 pages!

Someone on my Facebook shared a link to that, calling it a meeting of two geniuses. It was so close to an unfriending.

I’m no Zizek fan, but I’d imagine he’d make fairly swift work of Breitbart boy Peterson.

Fascists making big gains in Spain. From almost nothing look to be getting 12-13%

Thankfully their potential right wing coalition parties aren't doing too well, so looks like a Socialist/Catalan coalition again if they can agree.

You've changed your tune.  I assume, as I said at the time, you were simply drunk on Saturday night.

I'm happy that the Catalonians didn't inadvertently put fascists into power by bringing down the Socialist Government.
