Livi v Motherwell

Comfortable.

Livi started well and had a couple of cracking long range efforts but we quickly settled and took control. Should have had 2 or 3 before half time, hit the post and there were at least three good saves from the Livi keeper.

Second half petered out with neither keeper having anything to do, we settled for 1-0 fairly early and Livi never really looked like breaking us down.

Much less hoofball today and we played some decent football especially first half with Bigi, Gorrin and a Frear all involved. Main and Johnson linked up well up top, the goal being the perfect example. McHugh and Aldred absolutely strolled it at the back.

Much better balance and feel to the team, just a shame the ball kept getting held up on the pitch which hindered both teams when they tried to get the ball on the deck.

Anyway a win and a clean sheet, that’ll do.

Motherwell deserved to win today, best of luck to them in the next round.

Liam Kelly kept Livi in it with some unbelievable saves in that first half!!

Carson  had to look lively on a couple of occasions too but Kelly and the Livi defence were far busier.

Ryan Hardie cant come back quick enough now.

That first half was the most enjoyable half I’ve seen in ages. It was end to end stuff and we were actually passing the ball about nicely. I’m all for Johnson, Frear, Bigi and the Spaniard staying in the team. The second half reverted to hoofball.

Well done to Motherwell and best of luck in the next round, deserved the win in the end.

It was a brilliant game of football in the first half, both teams open and going for it, as has been said we had a couple of great attempts and had a header well saved as well, but Motherwell also had some great chances and Kelly made a couple of excellent saves too.

Again like what’s been said the 2nd half settled down and it was pretty confortable for Well.

Im not too down beat though, if we can add a bit of quality in the final third, baring in mind we still have Sibbald, De Vita and Hardie to come back and we still aren’t finished with transfers I think we will do ok and certainly be in with a chance of staying up.

The Motherwell fan that said this would be a rotten game was completely wrong. End to end stuff in the first half and could easily have been 6 goals scored, Lawless rattled the bar and KM almost dipped a shot under the bar and then we cut a ball along the 6 yard box that should've been stuck away, then Motherwell did the same thing and scored. That was the difference between the teams, we desperately need a striker signed and for KM to play 2 up front. Even putting Hamilton on with LM would be worth trying, but both of them never get the chance to play alongside each other and KM always leaves them up front by themselves.

Good game and Motherwell worth their win but frustrating knowing we could be doing better but keep sticking with the same formation. Spoke to Hardie after the game and he reckoned he'd be back playing in 2 weeks, and has started some running to get his fitness up, can't come soon enough.

Was a comfortable win for Motherwell in the end. We had a good spell at the start of the game but after that they owned the first half and shut us out completely in the second.

I'm really hoping that Sibbald and Hardie will be the pivotal force we need in attack. I would have brought on Keags today to try and unlock the well defence. Hoping to see a different back three next week. Saunders is not in the same league as Gallagher or Halkett. Lithgow or Lamie would be worth a place in the starting line up for sure.

Looking at the Hibs game or the Hamilton game then...really looking forward to having him back.
