The Big Kick-Off

Recommended Posts

Well it’s the big kick-off tomorrow, good luck to all teams for the coming season.

This is history in the making and a further step towards all non-league clubs in Scotland being treated as equals, playing in the same leagues systems with the same governing bodies and the same rules and regulations, no more artificial division.  This is as big a change to the Scottish football scene as when the Lowland League was introduced, it’s the next big step.

Hopefully this time next year we’ll be looking at all Lothians and Fife teams kicking off in the East of Scotland League, with a West equivalent starting up as well, but in the meantime let’s all enjoy the new challenges over the next year.

Well said. I think it's going to be an exciting season

You have to let teams get to a position where they feel capable of finishing first, if finishing top 5 is that platform and playing in the Premier league next is the springboard then good luck to such clubs. Others will simply look to remain competitive throughout the season and bed into this new adventure/set up.

Not everyone can finish 1st, not everyone will have the means to get into the Premier, yet whatever the expectations and aims for each club are (new or existing eosfl clubs) here is hoping for a good season ahead. Best of luck to all those competing and to all the fans on their new adventures and experiences.

Why would you enter the pyramid and not want to finish first ?

Why would teams winning any league in a pyramid refuse promotion ? Or play two playoff games when not wanting promotion ? Just saying.

I echo that.  Such an exciting change in Scottish football.  A big pity that the west-dominated media have not given it the place it deserves.

Good to have the competitive Fitbaw back. Looking forward to visiting new grounds this season and seeing the team compete for new cups. Finishing top 5 in their conference is the target for almost every club. Hopefully the BU's have a good season.

I think if teams move next year it will be tier 7
How can it be? Lowland will be 5, EOSFL will have at least 2 tiers (6&7) if the east region juniors super league slides in under that (8) , then those left in regional leagues should slide in at 9.
There are no eligible super league sides good enough or with enough clout to demand any spaces on parity with the EOSFL set up as it will be next year.
All the big teams have gone.

The top 16 from the 3 conferences this year will be in top EoSFL league at tier 6. What happens with the other 23 and the sides who choose to join next year will no doubt be thrashed out once the numbers are known. As existing members of the EoSFL you would guess most of the 23 (and many of the top 16) would want the new clubs starting at the bottom. But it's a case of wait and see.

There could be the scenario where the top 5 in each Conference form the EoS "Premier" for 2019/20 at tier 6 (which will happen), with the remaining clubs plus any newcomers again forming Conferences at tier 7 for 2019/20 to decide who forms a EoS "Championship" for 2020/21 (tier 7), with the remainder forming tier 8 for 2020/21.

That's just one possibility.  What is certain is that no new clubs will join at tier 6.

Bit of a hassle to have the conference style again next year. 100% right and proper that they don't come in at tier 6

It probably is, expecially for the original 13 members. It's only a suggestion of what might happen, depends on how many new members there are.

I would like to think, and it really is all dependent on numbers as it’s unknown how many - if any? - will apply to join for next season, that an EoSFL ‘First Division’ is created at Tier 7 under the 16 team ‘Premier Division’ at Tier 6 with the remaining sides and new applicants making up Tier 8, a Tier that could be regionalised if numbers permit. I really can’t imagine there will be the appetite for another conference style season after the rightful need for it in this unique, transitionary season.

The remaining juniors that may decide to come over at the end of this season should rightly be placed at the bottom.

They had the chance to move and stayed put.

Why should the teams that moved for season 2018/2019 be penalized by being put in  conference leagues for another year.
