HibeeJibee
Phenomenon seen week-to-week, and on international weekends, seems to be repeated in the Premiership winter break - i.e. Edinburgh clubs get the lowest crowds or smallest boost (if any). Leith, LTHV, Tynecastle, Craigroyston, Edinburgh Utd and Heriot-Watt Uni are all in the bottom 10 league averages alongside Hawick, Eyemouth, Ormiston and Stirling Uni EOS. Similarly the crowds the last 2 weeks have not been notably boosted, with the exception of Tynecastle v Bo'ness (though presumably a substantial away support tbf):Leith ... average 40 LTHV ... average 52 ... "31" v Dunipace Tynecastle ... average 72 ... 100 v LTHV, 180 v Bo'ness Craigroyston ... average 41 ... ?? v Preston Edinburgh Utd ... average 47 ... 43 v Craigroyston Heriot-Watt Uni ... average 61 ... 45 v Stirling Uni EOS

It's tough in the capital. Anybody know how Jeanfield put such a competitive team on the park with so few supporters? Is it because they are the second-best team in Perthshire so have access to better local players?
Another Edin Doonhamer
At Newtongrange Star v Hill of Beath Hawthorn, headcount of 161. So pretty much their average then.

I think they benefitted from moving to the EOSL and a number of players from the Junior Tayside clubs moved to them. A poster said they had about 5 new recruits. They are also a well run club.
FairWeatherFan
Having been a traditional Tayside club and losing those trips to Tayside. Would those in the know say that Jeanfield's attendances are down on recent years or holding steady?
Cumbo
Our attendances are slightly up. There has been a few who have started to come down this season. Football in the area is not that well supported. Pretty sure this season St Johnstone have had some of their lowest crowds since moving to McDiarmid Park.

A good set-up and ambitious plans, they deserve more support.
grinderbrokeyourhearts
The interesting stat from the attendances shows the more local the match the higher attendance. Points towards the more regionalised leagues the better?
Auld Heid
The interesting stat from the attendances shows the more local the match the higher attendance. Points towards the more regionalised leagues the better? Not really - it points to people wanting to watch competitive football.Today the crowd won't come near our average and that's a clear indication of a fixture not appealing to people.
grinderbrokeyourhearts
I disagree. I was more meaning for divisions below EoS Premier next year that regional East and West could boost attendance.Even in the Superleague last year our biggest gates came from more local games. Games where both supports turn up. In an era where the game is declining this shouldn't be sniffed at.
