Scottish Cup round 1 prize money is £4k, we saw from Selkirk's 15/16 accounts they got ~£10k from the SFA (maybe that included both Scottish Cup and members payment?). The SFA money made up around a quarter of their turnover. We don't know VoL's income but it can't be that much, and their average attendance is less than 100. But if they don't have debt you'd think they could downsize and continue in tier 6. And no, if Kelty beat Brechin then nobody gets relegated from the SLFL as a tier 6 club effectively takes Kelty's place. It does seem to be purely about the floodlights. Maybe the mention of lack of facilities in the town is in hopes of getting the council to kick in some money. So i'm sure they can continue but they'd probably drop a lot harder and faster. They'd probably still have hopes of avoiding relegation this year on the field. but this could mean slashing what little budget they have. Any idea if this comes of the back of the SFA sending members the preview of 2020 licensing requirements?
HibeeJibee
There have been abortive plans before... Around the turn of the decade they talked of installing lights but nothing came of it. Peebles failure to agree site for 3G also saw calls to "build it in Innerleithen".

Ginaro
https://www.peeblesshirenews.com/sport/18033666.victoria-park-sporting-hub-plans-take-shape/ Quote A PROJECT group has been formed in Innerleithen to push forward plans for creating a community sporting hub at Victoria Park. Lowland League club Vale of Leithen face a race against time to install floodlights at their home park to meet SFA requirements. And they are using the rushed ground improvements to kickstart a longer-term plan for creating a community facility to cater for all the town's football clubs as well as athletics and other sports. On Tuesday evening close to 50 people attended a public meeting in the Vale Club. As well as committee members from Vale, Leithen Vale and Leithen Rovers, there were representatives from Live Borders, Scottish Borders Council and Leithenburn Athletics Club. John Anderson from Vale of Leithen has agreed to lead a newly-formed project group. He told us: "There was a lot of positive comments and the general feeling was that everyone wants to see sporting facilities created which can benefit the whole community. "Our first aim is to get floodlights and we hope to have a planning application in before the end of the year. "Several funding streams - both council and non-council - were identified and discussed. "There is a lot of support for taking this forward and step-by-step we will hopefully end up with a Victoria Park that can cater for all of the community's sporting needs." As well as erecting floodlights to allow for evening training and matches, further improvements include drainage work on the pitch and eventually a synthetic 3G or 4G surface. Once the planning application for floodlights has been submitted with Scottish Borders Council, the first of several funding applications will be made. John added: "As well as external funding we need to also raise money ourselves. "Over the coming weeks and months we will look at ways we can fundraise ourselves as a club, whether that's events or online crowdfunding. "We realise this is just the start of a long journey but the support is there. "The project group will meet every month and continue to take this forward." Drew Kelly and John McBay from Live Borders and the two councillors in attendance, Stuart Bell and Robin Tatler, have all agreed to join the project group. And representatives from the town's other sporting clubs will also have a place around the table. Vale of Leithen chairman Stuart Robertson said: "There has been a feeling for some time that other areas of the Borders get all the facilities, hopefully this is about to change. "There was a lot of positive comments at the meeting and we hope this can be the start of something that will benefit everyone in and around Innerleithen."
Ginaro
Some positives for Vale over the festive period with a win at Gala, and progress with their attempt to keep their licence. Planning permission submitted for floodlights: https://eplanning.scotborders.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=Q2SU13NTIAY00&activeTab=summary https://www.facebook.com/groups/350995348896/permalink/10157128882488897/ Quote UPDATE ON FLOODLIGHTS: Just to confirm that the planning application for the installation of floodlights was submitted to Scottish Borders Council just before the christmas break. We await a date for the Planning Committee meeting. Meanwhile we have identified various sources of funding, but they are of course subject to successful planning. We will develop further fundraising plans in the new year and will continue to update folk via this page. We will be holding a meeting of those who expressed an interest in being involved early in the new year to push this project on. Several meetings have been held with SBC Councillors and Live Borders who remain very supportive. As ever, if anyone has any questions or queries, feel free to send me a message.
