Nasmith v Shagger v Davis

Recommended Posts

A quick question if anyone can answer. With all the signings at Ibrox, I see McGregor has settled in without any issue at all. Meanwhile, when there were murmurs that Nasmith and Davis may possibly join there were cries of "Judas" and "turncoats". Why is this? I thought they all TUPE'd, which was what they were entitled to do. So, why is it ok for some to return but not others?

Haven't seen us linked with either of them tbh.

Naisy looked pretty poor last season and I've no idea what Davis' recent form has been like.

Naismith was being reported as willing to play for Rangers for nothing in January

This story was clearly not the entire truth but it constitutes being“linked”.

I’m surprised you forgot

Despite voluntarily taking a 75% pay cut to allow the old club to limp over the line at the end of the season, it was felt that Steven Naismith betrayed the new club by taking advantage of a PFA Scotland ruling that all players could become free agents if they wish - allowing him to move for Everton for nothing.

Totally get that mate. Mcgregor did the same by exercising his right to leave and go to Besiktas. So why do Rangers fans treat them differently? Seems odd to take such a strong, principled stance against one while not against the other.

That aside Bennet! There has definitely been a narrative over the last few years that he is a turncoat. Whether being linked or not, Rangers fans didn’t want him back due to this.

Fast forward a few years and when Foderingham is doing shite and McGregor’s name pops up. Bingo! He’s back at Ibrox.

So, why doesn’t he face the same shite as Naismith?

I wouldn't say that Fods was doing shite, always thought he was a good player.

Would Naisy improve the team, he looked a shadow of his former self at hearts last season.

I think it was down to Davis being the club captain at the time and fucking off without really making any sort of stand for the club.

Naismith was a fan favourite and made a few tweets about how he’d stand by the club and then fucked off with some shitty excuse that he didn’t trust the new company enough and then got a whopping signing on fee for joining Everton. He was also injured a lot at Rangers and they worked hard to get him back to fitness whilst he received full wages this this was also deemed unacceptable.

Mgregor didn’t make any excuses or try and sugar coat his move and just fucked off so it probably didn’t hurt so much.

The outrage amongst their supporters was hilarious at the time, it’s very easy for overweight alcoholic bigots to say they would never turn their back on the club no matter what but it’s not really the way modern footballers operate and they simply couldn’t understand that.

Respect for at least providing an answer.

Unlike Bennett who as per usual, deflects and types a lot of words with no actual content.

How long do you think it will be before he is asked to leave this club by the fans?

To be fair, if the pay cut wasn't reimbursed at any point, I don't see what anyone can complain about. Lost 3/4 of his wages and the new club likely would have pulled the new club trick and not honored it. Helped the club make it to the end of the season, then left.

You'd have to be a bitter wreck to boo someone under this circumstances.

Is it because McGregor is 100% staunch?

The reason is basically this:

The headline probably explains the reason Naismith is hated down Ibrokes way. No sure why, the guy was only telling the truth!

He said it wasn't the same club; that the old club had died.

This of course rankles with many Rangers* fans because it's the truth. They don't like being told the truth.  They like being told elaborate, often contradictory, lies. Lies that spiral on for many years, weaving a ludicrous and cack-handed web of deceit that serves only to massage the fragile egos of sad little orangemen who have their very identities dependent on believing in an artifice.

The funny thing about all this is that Naismith wasn't the only one that told the truth. Just one of the few that became an enemy of the horde.

Steven Naismith: "The loyalty I had was with Rangers. I’ve never met anyone from Sevco since it’s been formed. And I don’t think I could have moved forward on those terms.'
“Will I ever come back and support the new club? I haven’t thought about it.."

Terry Butcher: “It is still a brilliant club for me, although technically it is now a new club."

James Traynor: "When the CVA was thrown out, Rangers as we know them died."

Richard Gough: "The club I gave blood, sweat and tears for is dead."

Alex Rae: "We can now say that 140 years of history have effectively come to an end."https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/former-rangers-star-alex-rae-1129116

Walter Smith: "We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune".https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9342251/Rangers-in-crisis-Walter-Smith-statement-in-full.html

Steven Whittaker: "We owe no loyalty to the new club. There is no history there for us."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/18560798

James Traynor: “Rangers FC as we know them are dead. It’s all over."
“They’ll slip into liquidation within the next couple of weeks with a new company emerging but 140 years of history, triumph and tears, will have ended. No matter how Charles Green attempts to dress it up, a newco equals a new club. When the CVA was thrown out Rangers as we know them died."
