NorthernLights
Quote Aberdeen have been paired with an away trip to Highland League outfit, Buckie Thistle in the first round of the Aberdeenshire Cup. The Club have a long association with the tournament dating back to the first edition in 1887 and have lifted the old trophy a record 35 times, with the last victory coming in 2004 against Fraserburgh. The Dons will field a team competing against other members of the Aberdeen and District Football Association, which includes local juniors, Banks O’ Dee and Highland League clubs from the area. The current holders are Formartine United, who saw off Cove Rangers in last season’s final. Details of the first-round tie are still to be confirmed with the full draw below: Aberdeenshire Cup Draw: First Round Fraserburgh v Huntly Inverurie Loco Works v Banks o’ Dee Buckie Thistle v Aberdeen 2nd Round Keith v Turriff United Buckie Thistle / Aberdeen v Inverurie Loco Works / Banks o’ Dee Deveronvale v Fraserburgh / Huntly Cove Rangers v Formartine United Semi Finals Keith / Turriff United v Buckie Thistle / Aberdeen / Inverurie Loco Works / Banks o’ Dee Deveronvale / Fraserburgh / Huntly v Cove Rangers / Formartine United https://www.afc.co.uk/2018/07/11/dons-back-in-for-aberdeenshire-cup/
HibeeJibee
Must be a good few years since Aberdeen last entered this. Was there not a bit of fanfare about it, with a reasonably strong team fielded including Longmuir and Foster, only to lose v Cove? Aberdeen Uni and Peterhead absent, though.

I'm sure I went to that game. I recall we were shite (not a massive surprise) and MacKenzie had a superb game for Cove in goals. I was Googling to see if I can could find more information but all I found was this thread on DonsTalk - http://www.donstalk.co.uk/index.php?topic=13142.0 It at least has the Aberdeen team... Aberdeen: Langfield, Masson, Smith, Foster, Shaugnessy, Ross, Grimmer, McRobbie, Gibson, Sorensen, Low. Subs: Lukasik, Jarvis, Brown, Bulger, Davidson.
HibeeJibee
It rung a bell with me as I'm pretty sure Foster went on loan to Rangers literally a few days after it and promptly went from getting beaten by Cove Rangers to playing at Manchester United in CL.
NorthernLights
3-0 win for our youngsters against Buckie last night. https://www.afc.co.uk/report_nostats/aberdeenshire-cup-buckie-thistle-0-aberdeen-3/
HibeeJibee
Interesting to see the Aberdeenshire Cup Final will be an Aberdeen derby of sorts between Cove Rangers and Banks o'Dee, plus the North of Scotland Cup Final will be a Highland derby with Inverness CT and Ross County. So only 1 of 4 finalists actually from the Highland League.
HibeeJibee
https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/highland-league/3163963/evening-express-aberdeenshire-cup-will-be-played-to-a-finish-in-july https://www.grampianonline.co.uk/sport/plans-to-finish-last-years-aberdeenshire-cup-before-start-o-236251 Last season's Aberdeenshire Cup will be held-over and finished in the fortnight before HL starts (which seems to be a week later than rest of pyramid on July 24th). Appears outstanding QF (Buckie v Aberdeen) will be Sat 10th Jul... SFs (Formartine v Buckie/Aberdeen + Keith v Fraserbugh) will be Wed 14th... Final will be Sat 17th or Sun 18th. Aberdeen might use some first-team? They dont start in Europe until following midweek.
