What is the point of Labour ?

Hopefully Starmer has slit his own throat today. Banning front benchers from picket lines is absurd, no one who gets angry about that is going to vote Labour anyway.

This is going to be a big problem for him at the conference. Unions and members aren't going to forget this.

And neither are the British electorate. Seeing Labour MP’s supporting this preposterous industrial action will thankfully resign them to opposition for many years to come.

Juliet is totally correct here. You can't play their rules and win.

Mick Lynch is the exact sort of person that you would want at the forefront of Labour and the exact sort of person you'd expect a Labour politician to be.

Honest, fair, respectful, straight-talking and cool-headed. There was not a single journalistic or political hot-take on the strike action yesterday that he failed to easily and calmly dismantle.

I thought John McDonnell would do this and for a few years he was very good with the media but when things came to the crunch he fucked it on Brexit while Corbyn stood firm under pressure. Looking at the SCG it doesn't look like there is anyone ready to step up. Zarah Sultana is the most capable but she's very young and the press will destroy her. Claudia Webbe has already been destroyed by the courts/ security services. Burgon has good politics but doesn't come across well.

Sharon Graham at Unite is impressive as well but the media would go into hysterics if a strong union leader moved onto the front bench (moving from a hedge fund or big Tobacco to the front bench is completely natural obviously).

We should just have a Mick Lynch appreciation thread at this point. Would be good to collect all of the heads he's taking across Labour, Tories and shite journalists.

He's not even doing anything clever. Just remaining calm and pointing out journalists that are insulting the audience by acting stupid to try and trap him.

Are you a Marxist? Ehhhh.... No m9, i'm an elected trade unionism, why are you talking about Marxism?

How has it taken till now for someone to shine such a simple yet effective light on these shrieking clowns

He has been doing very well and been quite impressive. Was perhaps quite needlessly hostile to Jenny Chapman on Politics Live. You can tell he loves the argument because he lowkey tried to create one out of nowhere with her then quickly gave up and said he'd prefer Keir to the shower we have right now.

The Kay Burley one was one of the best political interviews I've seen in a long time.

What Lynch and the RMT are doing well is broadening the argument to make it 'all workers v government/bosses' rather than narrowing it to a RMT v Rail companies dispute.

It helps that Lynch can speak honestly because he doesn't give a f**k if he's not invited back for not toeing the party line.

That Kay Burley interview is wild. It's like watching an episode of Drop the Dead Donkey. She's so far out of her depth it's scarcely believable emoji23.png

I once heard Burley refer to people as “lemons walking over a cliff”. You couldn’t write that as satire.

Mick Lynch getting interviewed and schooling Piers Morgan and Kay Burley is top TV. He's also kicking all Tory challengers and having digs at Sir Shush Starmer. The reason he's getting so much support is because the public know these politicians lie and the compliment media know it too and say f**k all. He's only calling a spade a spade. Also on politics live when baroness whoever gave the game away by saying Starmer says nothing about nothing as he wants to become PM by not being worse than Bozo and claim it by default.

Her attempts at feigned offence were pathetic. Surprised she didn't try some fake tears.

Isn't she the arsehole that was shoving a microphone under the noses of parents who'd just lost their kids in some horrendous accident? An absolute cuntress, so obviously any and all episodes of her being publicly humiliated make for excellent viewing.

Not sure, but she definitely seems like that type given she's clearly a massive Tory scumbag.
