So tuition fees will stay in England under Starmer.  It’s an interesting strategy, vote for us as we’re not going to do any of the things we promised.

tl,dr: Keef is a Tory c**t says Sturgeon.

Sturgeon accuses Starmer of being 'pale imitation' of Tories and calls his NHS plans 'dispiriting'

At her news conference, asked about Keir Starmer’s claim that the SNP and the Tories are both exploiting the gender recognition bill for partisan advantage (see 10.22am), Nicola Sturgeon said that this had only become a constitutional issue because Westminster was refusing to accept the right of the Scottish parliament to legislate on a matter within its own competence. She went on: “So, if anybody is trying to use it politically, it’s those Westminster politicians.”

She pointed out that most Labour MSPs voted for the bill. And she said the Scottish government accepted an amendment, from Labour, saying the bill would not affect the Equality Act. So Starmer needed to understand this was not just an SNP bill, she said; it was legislation backed by a large number of MSPs.

Sturgeon also said that she found Starmer’s comments on the NHS in his interview with Laura Kuenssberg yesterday “pretty dispiriting”.

She claimed that some of what he was saying was “quite dangerous”, because he implied people with serious conditions should not consult their GP, or should bypass their GP. She said Starmer may have intended to say something different.

And she said Starmer should be committing to invest more in the NHS, and to reverse Brexit, to address the staffing problem in the health service. She went on:

Keir Stamer needs to stop trying to be a pale imitation of the Tory government he’s seeking to replace, and actually start offering some positive alternative.

Don’t worry Jedi* will be on to reassure us all that Keith HAD to say all that to fool the electorate and things will be completely different if the get the keys to number 10, he will also set us right that in fact it’s Sturgeon & the Natzis who really want to privatise parts of the NHS.

Personally I don’t think Nicola has gone far enough, current Labour are more than a pale imitation it Tories, they are Tories!

*no he won’t he’s either banned or slinked off when the truth became clear.

Anyone else think its more than a coincidence that Starmer is "onside" with Rishi regarding gender reform in Scotland (despite his MSPs stance), while looking for Sunak to "work with" Starmer and Labour in order to make the best of the Brexit shambles and blindside the ERG?

Maybe just me - I will look out my tinfoil hat..........................

If I were a SLab MP or MSP I'd seriously be considering defecting to the SNP - siding with the Tories on GRR is just criminal.

Any SLAB MPs and MSPs with any scruples have long since defected. What remains are a group of spineless simpletons who will do exactly what they're told to do by head office.

That's all very well but we're only talking about Jackie Baillie, Daniel Johnson and Ian Murray who could do that and not forfeit their post.

What a sorry bunch.

What do you think Labour’s position on a second IndyRef would be if she was leader?  Or whether they supported the Tories on striking down legislation in the devolved Scottish Parliament?

It would be entirely the same. Right now she has the privilege of talking as someone who isn't party leader. But should she find herself in that position, she will fall right into line.

Very much my point.

I believe she could very well be sympathetic to both, but we'll never know as long as Starmer is in charge.

Their Unionism is above any socialist feelings. Which is what has been killing Scottish Labour for a decade or more.

Except it can hardly be called "Unionism" these days. They know what it has become and seem perfectly fine with it.
