Since the election they've attempted to act tough on border security and they've repeatedly attempted to build capital out of the knife crime panic about policing cuts with their 10000 more police officers on the street pledges. To virtually no political benefit judging by the limp council elections. Maybe they should stick to the good socialist stuff they made the breakthrough with and leave the law and order shite to the Tories.

If that's all it took to give up on the only chance of creating a fairer society then you need to work a bit harder on the optimism of the will part.

The full thing is about offering a left wing manifesto. Being in a position to offer that to a the largest possible proportion of the public in a general election is more important than winning the day on whatever battleground the media are choosing in the short term.
No, the full thing is about gaining power to enact that manifesto, and you simply won't achieve that if said manifesto doesn't appeal to enough of the electorate.

But wait, I'm actually wrong there, it's even more than that. It also involves inspiring a broad enough range of people to form a consensus to deliver power, and forming a team which inspires confidence.

For you, taking part seems to be more important than winning. Politics and its effects on peoples' lives is too important for that sort of self-indulgence.

I'd rather be independent, mate. Clearly you missed the part where I said it was one of the reasons I gave up.

The 2017 Manifesto was very popular and hopefully the next manifesto will increase the votal total from 12.8m up to what is required for victory.

Given that it seemed impossible that voters would be offered a genuine left wing option for close to 30 years the fact that Corbyn and the current leadership are offering that is in itself remarkable. My point is that there is never going to be a left wing Labour leadership which isn't vilified by the media and constantly portrayed as being in crisis, there is nothing to be done other than weather the storm until an upcoming election presents the opportunity to directly talk to voters.

Sounding a bit Nietzschean Nazi there.

Only to the illiterate.

You do seem to have more in common with the far right than Democratic Socialism, constantly siding with the likes of Trump and the ERG.

The manifesto itself was really good and took Labour to where it needs to be and needs to go. The subsequent attempts to appeal to light Tories on the grounds of law and order? Not so much. The interminable squabbling is just so utterly draining as well*. It doesn't help up here either that Slab is just filled with useless arseholes, creeps like Alex Rowley,  all the wee guys in the SLYS and CfS, and the detritus from the Blairite years.

*I get the point of all the manufactured outrage is to stifle any actual attempts at changing the party for the better but I can't be gassed with it and would rather just leave the UK and blame Tom Watson for it.

I prefer the pessimism of the intellect than chasing unicorns myself. Like staying in the EU rather than jumping off a cliff that the far right are encouraging.

Would that really matter to Corbyn and his camp followers ?  He strikes me as a guy who would happily see Labour become the East Stirling of UK politics rather than temper his own ideological purity.
