A-League 2018/19 & FFA Cup 2018

Rumours that the A-League may expand to 14 instead of 12 when the time comes. Now extra seething Tassie and Wollongong got rejected.

It would be a massive opportunity missed if Tassie is continually overlooked, its a untapped market and a chance before AFL gets a foothold on the state.

As for Woollongong, they have the fan base, they have the rivalry with some teams (glory), two things the other Melbourne expansion candidates dont have.

But reports in the media suggesting that the bids with the most financial backing will get it which will translate to another Melbourne and Sydney team while Canberra, Wollongong and Tassie will fall by the way side

The extension announcement is supposed to be happening today but according to this it's Western Melbourne and MacArthur-South West Sydney. Usual brilliant stuff from the FFA "Meet the new boss Same as the old boss"

I don’t follow the A League as closely as I once did but surely if you’re expanding a league, you’d want to include an already established club like South Melbourne over some new faceless franchise.
