For the avoidance of doubt - the East of Scotland League is a senior league of 39 clubs, at tier 6 of the Scottish football pyramid under the Lowland League and alongside the South of Scotland League, although it recently had only 13. For next season there are 3 conferences of 13 clubs each. Thereafter the top 5s will form a new 16-team Premier Division whilst the remaining clubs, and any new clubs, will form an apparently undetermined set-up underneath. It contains clubs from Northumberland, Borders, Lothians, Fife, Central Scotland and Perthshire.

You are looking for the East Region Juniors. This is a junior league of 36 clubs, although it recently had 60. For next season there is a Superleague of 12 teams then below it a Premier North & a Premier South also of 12 teams each. If this endures bottom 2 are relegated/both champions promoted plus a 2-stage playoff for runners-up & 10th. It contains clubs from West Lothian, Fife, Perthshire and Tayside.

Who are the team from Northumberland?

Reason I ask is that Whitburn got into trouble some seasons back for going to England to play a pre-season friendly.

Juniors have different archaic rules like the one that prevents friendlies being played before a certain date during preseason.

Now kicked into touch. Friendlies kick off in less than a fortnight.

The restriction still applies, albeit it has been reduced somewhat. A club who finished their playing season on 14th April (Carluke) cannot play a friendly today, were they to wish to do so.

Yeah, date thing aside, there's no problem on this one because Tweedmouth are a Scottish club, same as Berwick Rangers, with neither having anything to do with the FA.

It makes much more sense than with the Welsh clubs playing in England, they are still members with the Welsh FA & players moving to English clubs need international clearance, even if they move within the same division! Suspensions etc. also get quite messy. Tweedmouth & Berwick are Scottish clubs in that sense, making it much easier to deal with.

I think Swansea, Cardiff and Newport are now members of the FA. UEFA gave them a stern warning when Cardiff reached the FA Cup Final about European places. Gonna dig around a bit to see the details.

Ok, it would make sense if it's changed now. I remember AFC Wimbledon getting penalised for not getting international clearance when signing a player who last played for Cardiff. Obviously, they should have looked up the rules, but it's no surprise that a club in a lower non-league division (as AFC Wimbledon were at the time) were not aware that international clearance was needed for signing a player who last played for a club in the English Football League. And there are more examples like that, this is just the one I remember.
