Marlowe
Just going back to Helen's Dad's mention of £1 per week, can you explain what that amount refers to, is it a voluntary contribution, regular subscription or part of the Season Ticket price. When a committee leaves office and another is formed you would expect them to adopt the existing constitution, if there was one, and it would state the terms for supporters contributions etc! Is there in fact a club constitution in place ... if not, there is an easy Google search to locate a Legal firm who supplies Scottish Junior Football Club model Constitution & Rules for a modest fee. By the way, is it only a Public Meeting if folks have paid the mystery £1 per week? Can someone from the committee please post on Pie & Bovril (for non Farceboak and Twatter user) what this year's Season Ticket prices are and if it will be possible to pay for one at the game tomorrow (Sat 14th) ? Helen's Dad
Hi Marlowe no great mystery to the £1 per week. Season tickets were £60 last season thats something like £1.15 a week over the year (half that for concessions) - that gets you your membership. Marlowe
Trig point height says; (874.471×39.37)÷12= 2868.99361 feet which makes it a Corbett, i.e. between 2,550 and 3,000. Thanks Helen's Dad, I've always been happy to pay at the gate but this year I will buy a season ticket to enable the club to have the funds in the bank for the start of the season. I will, however, continue to pay as I go for my pies and bovrils. The right to have a say in the affairs of the club because you have a season ticket is not automatic ... it needs to be in the Constitution & Rules IF adopted by the Club Committee. There is a Thread on Pie & Bovril regarding Season Tickets and Club memberships and there it mentions some clubs charge a Premium over the cumulative gate price as an included Membership Fee (Pollok, methinks) and this would be financially beneficial to the Buffs if implemented, otherwise provide an easy means for those who wish to add a donation to the cause. I heard it mentioned at the Public meeting about deciding things at an AGM. The usual format for an Annual General Meeting is not meant to cover Very Important changes to how a club functions, that is the function of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) and the rules about who can call one and for what purpose should be stated in the Constitution & Rules. A Public Meeting was previously called at the Institute several years ago as it was believed there was no longer a committee in place after the mass resignations so a new one was formed and presumed ownership of everything to do with the club and thus ensured its continued existence. parkcircus
Our constitution isn’t very good, a new one has been written by the previous committee but we didn’t bring it in. At the moment you become a member of the club and your entitled to a season ticket, sort of the wrong way round.

My Bartholomews map gives it as 2866 feet, admittedly a fairly old map and it may have been resurveyed since then. Either that or it is actually growing and is a little bit higher now. However the last figure of the height in metres is rounded off to the nearest significant integer, as is the conversion figure for metres/feet. When multiplying them together you should discard the last two integers in the resulting resulting sum, similarly when you apply the divisor, lets just settle for 2869 feet and now you are a full 3 feet higher than before! Marlowe
Double checked Trig Point data and 2869 feet is best conversion, but, since the end of the last ice age 11,000 years ago the compressed earth has risen, however the bedrock and solid granite mountains have not moved as much as the softy stuff, and the tops have been subject to erosion so losing some height, however again, the sea levels from which the heights are measured varies over time and the ending of the last ice age is perhaps not yet completed, ( note the raised beach on Arran's west coast for evidence of now you see it now you don't sea levels) in which case Goatfell needs to be re-measured frequently. It's apparently now National Trust property so perhaps every climber could take a brick to the summit and eventually build a tower 140 ft tall. That would make it a Munro and the Baggers would turn up in their droves. Is there a friendly arranged for today?
