Correct mate. Absolutely no point in struggling to pay wages you cannot afford. The Buffs have done brilliantly in getting back to near the top of the game when you consider the way they were not too long ago. They obviously don't want to go back there.  There isn't a lot the club can do if the fans aren't coming to games and generating revenue.

Today gate receipts cover only a small portion of wages at most ‘bigger’ clubs due mainly to the Meadow madness some years ago that got the ball rolling coupled with the steady decline in attendances IMHO. Sponsorship income will provide the means for most clubs to support their wage bills today.
Clubs that have an established wage structure also tend to benefit from greater harmony in their squad and prevent the negative impact of silly money signings

Really disappointing performances by Buffs today. The 2-1 defeat at Troon actually flattered them. From the first whistle Troon won all the second balls and grew in confidence. Buffs showed no desire, were static in the middle of the park and had zero penetration with misplaced passes being far more common than accurate ones.
Troon strolled into a deserved 2 goal lead in the second half through Ryan Stevenson and Dylan Pooler. Nade had earlier missed the best chances in the first half.
It wasn’t until Dean Keenan’s own goal in the 85th minute that Buffs showed any real urgency but sadly it was too late. Too many players off form today to mention any positives.
Buffs team - Strain, White, McCloskey, Maitland, Syme, Fleming, Nisbet, Lewis, Boylan, Wardrope, McKenzie. Used subs - Curragh, Monti.

I'll own goal ye!!! :thumbsdown

Was very good goal from Brian.

Thought that Marc McKenzie was an absolute credit to himself yesterday with his performance after a helluva week for him.

Nade, Stevenson and Pooler will score plenty of goals, Troon are looking quite good at present

1st half was pretty even n I'd say Buffs had slightly better chances, but they'd have been as well staying in dressing rooms at half time,no legs, desire n 2 c players pulling out of tackles n get bullied was disappointing.ps if that's how they come back from 2 days in Newcastle ,maybe it should be left 2 end of season.

Not sure about troon being the better team. Nothing much in it at all. Buffs need players in and fast or they will get drawn into a relegation battle.

2 get players in ,we'd need 2 release more,as money's not there.Be good 2 c Joe Coleman back next week as we badly need a vocal leader on the park, teams far 2 quiet.

They had a reduction last season and I believe some of them beginning of this season,so this move has been forced on the committee, by lack of fans this season.

I've have always enjoyed watching Kilwinning , was working on Saturday or would have been there, seems to me on what I know is that committee created this problem, all very well signing these players one off signing fee, but the reality is their annual wage is the biggest factor to consider, think they took a gamble and overestimated income.  What I've seen this season, some of there big signings are letting them down, I know its hard to blood youngsters in this league, but over the past couple of seasons they seemed to handle themselves very well without flinging cash about, hopefully a wee cup run continues and bank balance improves.

Well that's why Mckenzies up 4 sale, need 2 try n even the books.Maybe time 4 a wage cap on the full squad from next year??

Mckenzie won’t be the only one earning a good wage have a look at monti, pettigrew, Flemming and Boylan.

Guys, the budget is £80per week higher than last season.

With the good league run and winning the Ayrshire Cup we decided at the close season to back the Manager and try and get a good run in the Scottish since it’s the 20th anniversary of winning it.

It’s now been made clear by a section of the membership that we arnt wanted at the club and our personal involvement with the Buffs youth section and KSC is seen as a conflict of interest by them.

Our goal now it to reduce the wage bill to match the income that a committee with the prospect of regeneration of Abbey Park can manage next season.

With Colin Evans no longer involved the club will be £20k+ worse off, I’m sure some of the sponsors will renew but lots of them won’t, also I won’t be there to cover the gap so we have to reduce the budget, our team budget should be about the same as a top championship side if we go on basic matchday income with some sponsorship.
