Sexism rife on here again I see. Nobody even considering that it was the Black Eyed Peas songstress (and occasional sweeper in a back three) Fergie.

I see. Fucking anti royalists at it again eh?

I would wager any EPL attacker would struggle when confronted by:

Ferdinand and Vidic should have been replaced by Fergie.

He knew he was gonna get one last year out of them. Spunked all his budget on RvP just to ensure he got the title in his final year and didn't give a f**k about what came afterwards. He probably also thought that Smalling, Jones and Evans + 1 quality addition woulda been good enough. Mighta been as well.

The curse of West Ham lives on....

After a poor start in the league, two former players have had a bit of bad news in the past couple of days.

Carlton Cole was declared bankrupt yesterday, and Tomas Repka now finds himself in prison after advertising his ex wife on a Escort site.

Further to that, a ballot was held for away season ticket holders looking to get a ticket for Tuesday nights clash away to AFC Wimbledon. Those who were successful received an email through advising that they had got a ticket. Unfortunately the person sending the email used the CC option opposed to BCC. Over 350 email addresses shared.

I don't think Moyes would, suddenly, have turned Man U into what Man City are now but there's no doubt he was harshly treated in my mind. I know folk say "He took the champions down to 7th" but there's a good bit of mitigating circumstances in that.

The squad he inherited had just lost Paul Pogba for a pittance and seen the retirement of Paul Scholes so had no midfield. His attempts to fix the gaps in midfield were hindered by Ed Woodward being about as useful as a chocolate teapot who let three or four signings Moyes wanted slip out of their grasp.

The first teamers  Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Valencia, Carrick, Young, Rooney, Giggs and van Persie were already past their peak (even if Young has since reinvented himself as a full back). The laughably poor attempts of Ferdinand and Vidic when they left Man U suggest they were already past it but had monstrous egos. When Moyes wanted to input his own style of play and work around the fact that Vidic and Ferdinand were slower he was looking to get them to defend in a way similar to his Everton team. The story goes Vidic refused to take part as, as has been mentioned, he took offence at being asked to watch videos of how other teams defended. Dick.

Of the first team members left in the squad who were still under 30 he had de Gea, Rafael, Jones, Evans, Smalling, Lindegaard, Welbeck, Cleverly and Kagawa. Pile of shite.

That's a decent base in defence but there is nothing upfront or in midfield. It's a huge rebuilding job. He's trying to imprint his own style of play, bring through younger players (who, it turns out, are nowhere near good enough), gradually ease out the ageing players (while keeping them happy) and is trusting a novice Ed Woodward to complete his signing targets.

So his best players were past it, his young players weren't good enough, the club failed at signing players and he was undermined from the start by the press and his own players.

Pogba wasnt even close to be being the player he is just now, and Moyes' three main targets were Baines, Jagielka and Felliani.

A lot went against Moyes, and nobody was ever lasting long straight after SAF, but let's not pretend he was some hard done by wonder manager hindered by an abject squad and unable to sign anyone. He couldn't get the best out a title winning squad.

The squad Moyes inherited wasn’t even remotely a title winning squad for the following season. In the same way that even a Leicester side that maintained their title-winning performance would have failed to defend their title. There are easier and harder titles to win - Ferguson’s last was straightforward stuff as no other big team was well placed to challenge.

I’ve no interest in Manchester United as a club but have noted the astonishing amount of puff pieces in the press coming out of Ed Woodward’s office recently - Football 365 highlighted the worst offender during the week. When it comes to first team affairs Woodward couldn’t run a bath. I’d also be seething if I were Jose Mourinho and had that clown second-guessing and overruling my transfer targets.

It was a squad that has just won a title, Moyes was unable to get the best out of them, and didn't make signings to help. He failed on his own.

Woodward is awful, the only benefit is he's so shite he stops Mourinho spending £80m on the likes of Perisic, Man U should punt him and Mourinho and start again.

When Ferguson was in charge and Gill was CEO, they had a very stable operation in terms of wage structure. They would deviate from this and money was certainly no issue if they felt a major signing was needed but generally, it was limited to one or two over the span of a couple of years. This caused issues when Chelsea and Man City come around but they kept to their structure and success continued.

I think Moyes caused a huge amount of panic with the dramatic collapse but we've seen other teams have equally poor seasons since and returned to normality the next year. They shat the bed with the prospect of not achieving Champions League football which is understandable but they should have focused on their operating structure and a director of football. Man City have totally outclassed them with their planning and operation - they are very effective at making signings and getting the balance of the squad right. Not a huge amount of wasted money there anymore relative to the level they are at.

They basically just kept a well oiled machine topped up each year so it didn't need a major overhaul until the end. Moyes's main problem was he wasn't SAF as only he could have done as well as he did with  that last squad.

The Glazers are purely and simply money men and they now have their puppet Woodward, the 't-shirt salesman', running the club. Without Fergie and Gill, United are now in an Arsenal situation where coining it in for the owners is what matters. Winning titles and trophies is now a secondary objective, a nice little occasional bonus that'll help with the money making. I have no sympathy with clubs that find themselves in this situation. They decide to open themselves up to the markets with a desire to become even richer and more powerful. There can be lots of positives in that but you also leave yourself open to hostile takeovers from the likes of the money-obsessed Glazers.  If you reap what you sow you only have yourself to blame.
