One less Plastic Paddy amirite?

Was there not a time (possibly the 2002 WC) that half of their squad were born in England?  Indeed a couple of them, Clinton Morrison being one, had never actually been to Ireland.

There were a few at the 1994 WC, I seem to recall.

I’m sure I remember someone pointing out in the Euro 16 qualifying campaign we had with them about half the players they used were born in either Scotland, England or Northern Ireland.

Seven (Bonner, Irwin , Moran, Whelan, Keane, Staunton, G Kelly) born in ROI.

Two born in Glasgow:- Houghton and Coyne

13 born in England.

The 1990 squad had a whole 6 players out 22 who were born in Ireland. The remaining 16 comprised of 13 from England, 2 from Scotland and 1 from Wales.
