Correct decision. No idea what BT’s referee is on about. Sterling doesn’t interfere with play as he doesn’t affect the defenders ability to play the ball and then the second the defender intensionally plays the ball he’s no longer offside. An offside player is allowed to create doubt in the defenders mind.

He tries to clear the ball like that because of where Sterling is. If he doesn't then Sterling gets the ball. How is that not interfering with play?

Yes he’s playing the ball because he is unsure whether Sterling is on or offside ie the doubt Sterling created in his mind.

So in other words, attackers can interfere with play? Because that's exactly what happened here.

I'd like to see the rules about doubt being allowed to be put in defenders minds btw.

You're basically just making things up here.

Under Law 11, a player is considered to be interfering with an opponent if he is "challenging an opponent for the ball" or "clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent". Both of these apply in this case. The only reason the defender has to play the ball is because Sterling is right there next to him trying to play it at the same time.

3-1 Lichtie.

Another deserved win for Manchester C who go 4 points clear. Over to Liverpool now at home to Burnley tomorrow. :)

Pickford is a really poor goalie for this level. He gets an easy time of it obviously as he's the England goalkeeper, but every couple of weeks he is making howlers. His distribution is also poor which apparently is what makes a 'modern day' goalkeeper. Tom Heaton, for example, is a far superior English goalkeeper.
