Chelsea have been banned from signing players in the next two transfer windows for breaching rules in relation to youth players, Fifa has announced.
They have also been fined 600,000 Swiss francs, while the Football Association has been fined 510,000 Swiss francs.
The ban does not prevent the release of players and will not apply to Chelsea's women's and futsal teams.
The Premier League club have been given three days to appeal against the world governing body's decision.
It comes following a Fifa investigation into the Blues' signing of foreign under-18 players, including former striker Bertrand Traore

Imagine, like most things with FIFA, if they make enough of a fuss, and hand out enough money, itll be downgraded/delayed.

Chelsea are screwed. Hazard leaving then.

Lose the Cup Final at the weekend and they lose their manager as well with a 2 window ban its going to be very difficult to attract a top manager in.

Shame

Didn't one of the Madrid clubs get a two window ban and it was upheld on appeal? I think fifa are getting tougher on this kind of thing.

Atletico.  It probably worked in their favour as Griezmann, who looked on his way to either Barca or Man United, decided to stay as they couldn't sign a replacement if he went.  Apparently.

Atletico and Real were both given two window bans around the same time, for the same thing.

Atletico got a two window ban, Real got it reduced to one January window.

Barca got a ban the previous year and managed to get it delayed so they got a summer window in first, where they signed Suarez.

PSG and Man City were both guilty of failing FFP rules, but using illegal payments to cover it, and got no punishment at all.

Seems totally random whether they uphold the two window ban, my guess is they'll either suspend it so Chelsea get this Summer window, or they'll knock it down to one and itll be the January.

Chelsea's fine is just under £458200. Drop in the ocean for them really

Considering the number of players in their player leasing business I would imagine they could come up with that money fairly easily.  They could sell Marco van Ginkel and still have plenty of change

Personally I hope the ban gets upheld, Chelsea have been the most egregious player hoarders

Transfer embargos and fines are pish chat.  Points deductions Italian-style should be the only punishment for all football offences by clubs.  Both on and off the park.

Are there any rules to stop Chelsea signing a player for their futsal team and moving him into the main squad?

I'd imagine it's a registration ban more than a transfer ban. Barca signed players in the final window of their ban but weren't allowed to register them until the ban was lifted.
