Apart from Sevco, the two other ties today saw Honved overcome a 2-1 deficit with a comfortable 4-0 win in Budapest to move on while Leichtenstein cup winners Vaduz (who play in the Swiss league system) managed to get through on away goals against Levski Sofia despite losing 3-2 today in the Bulgarian capital

lol that's as legit a reason as any.  You may have problems next year, there are no countries that start with X so either you find a team that starts with X or jump directly to Yemen

FC Al-Sha'ab Hadramaut, Im coming for you.

surely the decent thing to do would be to go the entire season hoping that Xanthi FC fall on their arses in the Greek league ???

Agreed, it's weird that UEFA couldn't find a way to get one extra team to avoid such a scenario.

My solution would be for the two losers in the semi-final of the Champions League preliminary round to play off against each other for a place in second qualifying round of the Europa League.

That would only move the problem, as there would be an odd number in the next round instead.

So it would, I was too busy concentrating on a simple way to have an even number of teams in the second qualifying round.

The system works correctly in the official access list:

  • 2nd qualifying round: 3 losers CL PL + 17 losers CL QR1 (20 total)
  • 3rd qualifying round: 10 winners QR2 + 10 losers CL QR2 (20 total)
  • 4th qualifying round: 10 winners QR3 + 6 losers CL QR3 (16 total)
  • group stage: 8 winners QR4

However, due to the title holders spot not being used with Real Madrid qualifying via their league, the Czech champions went to the group stage of the CL, the Dutch champions took their place in QR4, the Austrian champions (due to start in QR2) took the Dutch automatic place in QR3 and finally the Danish & Belorussian champions moved from QR1 to QR2. This meant there were 2 fewer teams in the CL QR1, so 1 fewer loser in EL QR2, resulting in a bye being needed.

A couple of results so far, Kairat fired 7 past Andorran team Engodarny but conceded 1, they still managed to sneak through 10-1 on aggregate while fellow Kazakh side Tobol won 2-0 at home to complete a 3-0 aggregate win over Georgian side Samtredia.   5 games kicked off a few minutes ago, with another 3 to start within the hour

AC Milan have been reinstated.

Which means that it's Atalanta who play in the next qualifying round and not Fiorentina.  Hope any FK Sarajevo fans that had booked flights and hotels to Florence can get refunds lol
