We are fortunate to live in a time where we are seeing their exploits live. These two could easily be argued to be the 1 and 2 greatest footballers of all time. Never in any era that can boast greats of the game have 2 players stood so far above the rest. IMO even Pele and Maradona couldnt say they were so far ahead of their peers. They are wildly different players and are both defying their years superbly well which also hinders comparison. All of that said, if you are determined that you want to make the case for Messi then you should simply ignore the champions league. Ronaldo is Mr Champions League and thats not really even up for debate. We seem to be very lucky across all sports in this era, possibly because this era has been the best across the board or possibly because the talent presently coming through is of a poorer standard which makes the high quality and longevity of this generation appear all the better, who knows ? Football = Messi, Ronaldo still undoubtedly the two best and then we have the likes of Godin and Chiellini who are also the wrong side of 30. Tennis = Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Willams Sisters all at retirement age but still way out ahead of everyone else. Golf = Woods, Mickelson, Kuchar & Scott (among others) all the wrong side of 40 and still right at the very top. Snooker = O'Sullivan, Higgins, Williams still all the best in the game with very few young players coming through. As I say, many of the above could easily be regarded as the "best of all time" but by the same token they're not being challenged by the young who should be coming through (possibly with the exception of Golf), which in itself has to be a worry for the future............

As messi gets older seems to be getting deeper and a lot more of creator Ronaldo is just an out and out centre forward now , he does very little outside the box Messi is in a world of his own. Ronaldo can argue all he wants about being a better finisher/big game player/whatever, but he doesn't compare.

Derry Alli
I've always wabted 'cant del Barcelona' to be binned for a significant game like this and replaced by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. Any reason Barca fans were howling at the Champions League music there? Edited April 16, 2019 by Dele
MEADOWXI
Someone who isn't playing tonight scored a goal against a team that isn't playing tonight at the Nou Camp and you would think it the deciding factor in the game the number of times it has been mentioned

Jambomo
He kicks Rakitic then gets the ball. That’s what I thought. Thought it was fine in the first view but there is an angle where it looks like he gets Rakitic’s leg first.
