Need a wee bit more than that! Sounds a tale.

She liked Ben Folds.

Through conversing with her over a period of several years whilst we were both uni students, I developed an interest in his music. We hooked up. We spent a bit of time together. We arranged to spend some time together in Kansas. In the intervening time things went a bit weird.

My main memory of that trip ended up being the final night when we went out for dinner and drinks with her friends. One friend got drunk and flashed me. Another friend got drunk, gave me her car/flat keys and told me that it was ok if we couldn't make it back to the original girl's house because she lived a couple of blocks away and her room mate was away for the weekend... Whilst all this is going on, the original librarian girl is getting angrier and angrier and starts stabbing the table with a pen. All of her friends were way drunker than they should have been given 3 of them were driving but that was ok in their view as "they knew the cops who came in to arrest people in the library". We hit another bar. There was another incident involving me, my jeans/boxers and a woman that librarian girl and her friends may have grown up hating.

I didnt shut my eyes that night, and not for good reasons.

Ben Folds is the reason I ended up in Kansas with a mental librarian.

Decent up to the album with Jesusland and the 3 eps he released. Went to shit after that.

And you never had the courtesy to thank him.

I know very little about Ben Folds except that I heard I few tracks that I loved, and then he did that maudlin crap with the guy who wrote My Lovely Horse and it was just dreadful - to the point that I've never returned to his stuff.

Neil Young. Over fifty years of pleasing himself as to what he records and performs, and the ratio of diamonds to shite is massively in favour of sonic Ambrosia. Even stuff like Storytone is at least interesting, if not the type of thing you'd put on to convert anyone to the Way of Rust.
His movies, as well, are very much what he wanted to do rather than what would sell. His latest, Paradox, although theoretically Daryl Hannah's creation.bears all the hallmarks - green credentials, quality music, and a pretty opaque plot. It's grand though - even if I thought part way through, "this would be awesome if I still enjoyed the old mushrooms"

Saw them live in 1989 when they played the Edinburgh Playhouse. Brilliant night.
Loved them since first hearing Rubycon about 1977 and saw them every tour in Glasgow since. Lost their way a bit in recent years but latest album without EF(rip) bodes well for the future without him.

Funkadelic/Parliament probably. Massive amount of quality releases and even the not so good ones are better than most other bands. Couple of others like Sly and the Family Stone and Prince when you take into account all his side projects and bootleg releases as well.

If the question is to name one band you couldn’t imagine never getting to listen to again, ever, then my answer would be The Beatles.

If the question is to name your favourite band, then my answer would be Rush.
