glensmad
Another solid win today and a decent performance, although we had several gears to go up.It was great to see Gary Smith getting his 50th competitive goal on his 50th competitive appearance (37 starts + 13 substitute appearances). That's some strike rate, and I hope he keeps it going. We were very comfortable after the 4 goals in an 18-minute spell in the first half. The gaffer sensibly wrapped up Simeon, Esplin and Smith midway through the second half as the game was well won by that point. We have a few really tough games coming up now, but it'll be good to get a wee break from the league and be the underdogs next week against Kilbirnie Ladeside in the West of Scotland Cup.We follow that up with a really tough away league match away to Kilsyth Rangers, who have won every home match they've played in the league so far this season. Then we have a no-pressure clash in the Scottish Junior Cup away to Auchinleck Talbot at the end of the month, nothing to lose for us in that one.

I don't really think you are going to be underdogs against Kilbirnie, they are not having the best of times this season so far. really looking forward to your visit to Duncansfield though, we have something to prove after the embarrassment at your place earlier this season. How many has Gary Smith got this season so far, it could be a race between him and our striker, Salim, for the golden boot in our division

The league is far more important for us though. Our trips to Duncansfield are always difficult, and your home form has been perfect, so it'll be a big test for us.

The competiion is certainly hotting up with almost half the season still to go. Our league is certainly the one for goals, 589 scored in 138 games so far, approx 4.37 goals a game. Any of these three, Adam, Gary & Salim could yet hit 50.

glensmad
Disappointing to go out of the West of Scotland Cup today, especially after leading for most of the game. We weren't at our best, but we more than matched a team from the Premiership even though we left out our no.1 goalie and our 23-goal striker, so that was encouraging.I'd rather we stumbled in the cups than in the league, for me next week's game at Kilsyth was always far more important than today or the Auchinleck game in a couple of weeks.

glensmad
On behalf of everyone at Rutherglen Glencairn, we would like to send our best wishes to defender Kris Gebbie after the knee injury he suffered this afternoon. Kris is still in hospital at the moment, and we will give more information when we feel it is appropriate. We would also like to thank the staff and officials of Auchinleck Talbot who were most helpful in caring for Kris while the game continued.
