Fixture overload ... just like west juniors ..

Recommended Posts

Pyramid News is highlighting the amazing fixture overload created by EoS `management` .. which has previously only operated a virtual `amateur` league, setting out an almost certainly unplayable 56-game season, not counting Scottish Cup replays or play-offs, for their 39 member clubs. Hopefully, the cups will be well shared out to reduce that ... by comparison Lowland are 46 games max plus cup replays or p-offs. It`s just like the west juniors  ... a big bad joke. Another likely burden is the 65 games EoS lost to the vagaries of our climate last season (multiply that by three this time) ... equivalent to 9 weeks fixtures.

The former publication`s website are all for the `pyramid` of course .... properly organised ... but don`t think there will be many smiles around in this league by the new year ... only upside is that they have an overwhelming vote to change this nonsense next time around ... maybe even with lots more new clubs !

What .. have ... I ... just read ?

Bit of a ramble but I think it's a fair point overall. It was definitely ignorance on my part but I was stunned at the number of cup draws there's been in the last few days, having only really started looking at the EOS in an anorak-y way over the last year or so. At this level I think you're asking for trouble in terms of fixture backlog for the stronger teams by playing 4-5 different cups.

Same number of leagues games as last year and this year's league season ended on 12th May. Postponements will likely be helped by the fact that LTHV and Tynecastle are no longer sharing Saughton. All you're adding on to last year is the additional Championship rounds for the conference winners.

There's at most going to be 2 extra rounds to any of the cup competitions, some cups will likely only have the one as they already contained more than one league so may have exceeded 32 entrants.

Will the EoS be scrambling around like the West Juniors trying to get games finished well into June, will they f*ck.

1. No one's going to play 65 games

2. In any business or anything in life it' never perfect and you have to work at it which eosfl. Are willing to do.

Only one thing I haven't been keen on is league cup 7x5 and 1 x 4 groups be better

Pyramid news - is that your own website or do you just regurgitate that kind of pish without thinking? The only way you can have a 56 game season is by getting to the final of every single cup and winning your conference. Maybe you should show your working?

  • 13 teams = 24 league games
  • 3 qualifying league games
  • 4 more games in the League Cup if 1st or maybe 2nd
  • 7 games in the South Challenge Cup
  • 6 games in the Qualifying Cup (2 more if the city cup is actually played)
  • 5 games in the Alex Jack cup OR 10 in the Scottish Cup
  • 6 games in the King Cup
  • 2 games in the championship play-off
  • 2 games in the Lowland League play-off

Maximum total of 59 (or 64 in Scottish Cup) + City cup

All teams will play 24 + 3 , and at least 4 cup games so a minimum of 31 games, but not much more than that.

It's 3 games in the championship playoff, for what it's worth. Fair enough point from Pyramid News in some ways as I was also amazed by the number of cup draws given what the numbers boost has done in terms of the number of rounds for each one, but the big difference from the west juniors is that floodlights can and will be used. They probably should have ditched one of the cups.

Why would it be 3 games in the Championship playoff? minimum 2 (one off) or a maximum 4 (home & away)

There are three conferences and they have said it would be a round-robin haven't they? That's 3 or 6.

Guess we're looking at it from different perspectives. I'm looking it from how many games one club might have to play and you're looking at from how many dates the league has to schedule for.

Could have used a few more in conference B maybe given the top clubs there will probably tend to have the longest cup runs.

It might have been looked at if LTHV & Tynecastle were still going to be groundsharing. Conference B would of been seriously impacted by postponements if they had to deal with what the EoS had to this past season.

After the renovation works at dunipace and the new facility is in place (which will be Sept time, most likely) there will be the devil's illuminations available to play under
