(Clubs which finish high enough in the EOS Qualifying League sections at the start of the season also contest the League Cup).

I tell you the fixture guy must be really clever to work all that out

Painful defeat for Eyemouth. Good win for Haddington.

St Andrews and Preston join Leith - who were debarred - in having no cups left.

Jeanfield now find themselves at the Last 16 stage of 3 different cups, running "behind" in one and "ahead" in another.

If Camelon beat Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale on Wednesday I take it our 2nd round tie with Blackburn would be played on the 23rd?

Last cup of the season gets properly underway this Saturday with the Last 32 stage of the King Cup... Traditionally this is "the FA Cup of the East of Scotland", and the final is usually played on the last Saturday of the season. After their first season of operation, the Lowland League clubs ceased entering the tournament, so it effectively returned to being a knockout East of Scotland league cup as it had been for many decades.

This cup was introduced in 1887-88 and the sports outfitter responsible - Percival King - donated various other trophies, including the Junior Cup. So there are some interesting historical full circles this season... Bonnyrigg Rose feature for the first time since 1895-96; Bo'ness Utd for the first time since 1938-39 (in shape of twice winners Bo'ness); Dalkeith Thistle for the first time since 1890-91; and 5-times winners Penicuik Athletic for the first time since 1949-50. Craigroyston, Easthouses and Hawick return after shorter absences.

Towns unrepresented in many years include Broxburn (1933-34); Dunbar (1981-82); Haddington (1894-95); Hill of Beath (1902-03); Linlithgow (1895-96); Musselburgh (1912-13); and St Andrews (1894-95).

Kelty Hearts, holders, were promoted to LL.
