Alex Jack Cup 2018-19

Recommended Posts

In parallel to the Alex Jack Cup runs the Southern Alternate Cup, commonly called 'the Alba Cup', which performs the same purpose for SOSL teams.

Both winners meet in the South & East of Scotland Cup-Winners' Shield for a place in next season's Scottish Cup.

Alba Cup began tonight with Mid Annandale 7-1 Abbey Vale at Lockerbie.

Edinburgh Utd 6-1 Inverkeithing

Dalkeith 5-1 Musselburgh
Crossgates 1-2 Bo'ness
Tranent 4-1 Easthouses
Penicuik 1-3 Hill of Beath
Jeanfield 0-2 Broxburn
Peebles 2-3 Dunipace
Camelon 3-2 Sauchie

Leaving these clubs in QFs, and accordingly only 2 ties from the Final:

Bo'ness, Broxburn, Camelon, Dalkeith, Dunipace, Haddington/Edinburgh Utd, Hill of Beath, Tranent

In the Alba Cup scores were Bonnyton 3-2 Heston, Lochmaben 2-0 Creetown and Upper Annandale 2-0 Nithsdale. This competition is at SF stage with Bonnyton, Lochmaben, Mid Annandale and Upper Annandale left - opposition EOSL clubs would consider beatable.

HJ, I'm just curious, are the Mid & Upper Annandale sides 'fusion' clubs, or is their a history behind them?

Upper Annandale used to be amateur leagues until aboot 4 or 5 seasons ago play at Moffat.

Mid Annandale been in the SOSFL for years as far as I'm aware play at Lockerbie.

Camelon v sauchie will a good one

Yes good game Camelon were poor first half and Sauchie  just about deserved to go in at halftime 1-0 up.

Second half Sauchie scored a freak goal to make  it 2-0 and it looked like it was not to be Camelon`s day but they dug in and managed to get 1 back to make it 2-1 and that gave them the will to make a go of it and they were rewarded by getting the equaliser from a great header from a ball whipped in from a corner.  Camelon stated to control the game and  missed 3 glorious chances to win the tie but they left it late to score the winner that takes them into the next round.

"Connor" above tweeted recently :- .@DunipaceJuniors/@BroxburnAth vs @Camelonjuniors/ Dalkeith Athletic in the Alex Jack Cup semi final

but no mention of the quarter/semi draw for :-

Bo'ness Utd
Haddington Athletic/Edinburgh Utd
Hill of Beath Hawthorn
Tranent

If Boness avoid HoB in the QF it has the look of a seeded draw
