East Cup of (Football) Nations 2018-19

Would be a long time since I can recall someone playing a cup-tied player.

Might've been Spartans in the 2007-08 EOS League Cup Final. They won... but 75th-minute sub Kenny Young had featured 4 times for Edinburgh City earlier in the tournament.

I'm actually not that fussed kelty admitted it and reported there mistake themselves if they don't get put out that doesn't bother me

Prescedent has already been set this season. So for me decision for Eosfl is if Kelty as expected are disqualified do Camelon get reinstated and into the semi final, or will that semi final be a walkover for which ever team gets there.

It was Eyemouth. They went down like the Hindenburg in the next round at Bonnyrigg.

If a team fields a suspended player in the league the punishment is almost invariably a points deduction; if a team fields a suspended, cup-tied or unregistered player in a cup the punishment is almost invariably expulsion and reinstatement of beaten opponent (if they won), or a ban from the next season's edition (if they lost). Leith aren't in this season's King Cup as they fielded ineligible players in last season's SF loss at Kelty.

Nothing automatic though, and always appeals process too.

I think kelty have accepted the wrong. But here's hoping the earlier post rings true and we win the eurovision

Spartans have built up quite a collection of the possible variations over the years.

Back in 2007-08 they won the EOS League Cup but brought on cup-tied sub Kenny Young in the Final, and so forfeited the title to losing finalists Whitehill. Following season they used Dean Hoskins in a Scottish Cup loss at Elgin but he had been transferred to their Amateur side to get game-time, and not loaned or signed back. (However the tie had been postponed a week and Elgin's keeper was signed during that intervening period - both were in breach of rules and a replay was ordered).

In 2011-12 Keith Macleod's registration form had been rejected for a missing DoB but not resubmitted - expelled from Scottish and South Challenge cups, with Culter and LTHV respectively reinstated.

Fast forward to 2014-15 and a club coach was listed as a triallist in Lowland League Cup R1 - expelled and Preston reinstated. Finally, the next season Ross Gilpin played in EOS League v Civil Service but had not served a ban received as a triallist in a friendly.

I think that is every possible way... cup-tied, registered to another team, signed after cut-off, not registered, triallist in a cup, suspended.

EDIT: Technically no, as another - admittedly less obvious - one which has occurred a few times in recent years was for fielding a triallist last registered outside Scotland without international clearance. Maybe coincidence but it's stung a few Border and D&G clubs, IIRC.

Sometimes in amateur football you see clubs done for listing players with false names!

Home Semi Final Joy for the Mariners

Many of you will have seen the statement issued by Kelty Hearts following the Football Nation Qualifying Cup match on Saturday regarding them unwittingly fielding a cup tied player.  The club contacted us on Sunday to inform us and apologise for the error.

We received official word today from the East of Scotland Football Association that “the Association Office Bearers have decided that Kelty Hearts be excluded from the remainder of the competition and Camelon Juniors be re-instated in their place.”

This means that we will get to play in the semi final of this competition against either Peebles Rovers, Jeanfield Swifts or Bonnyrigg Rose with the latter two teams still to play their third round match.  So we don’t know the date or the opponent, but we do know that the match will be at Carmuirs Park.  As soon as we know, we’ll let you know!

So we have the chance to continue to compete for a potential 3rd trophy of the season, with 3 others still to play for.  In the immediate future, we focus back on the league as we welcome St Andrews United to Carmuirs Park this Saturday for a 2pm kick off.

Next available Saturday is 23rd March, unless it's done midweek.

It does put the 12/13th March date for the EOS City Cup semis out the window though.

I'd have thought 23rd and we'll probably play league cup with Crossgates or if we beat lthv the Kings cup match from 2nd march

Similar sort of situation occurred in 2015-16 when the section of the draw with Whitehill and LTHV in it fell badly behind (their QF wasn't actually played until May!). Then the Final got held at the end of the season. Kelty's expulsion means none of the Last 16 tie, QF or SF has lights... Jeanfield v Bonnyrigg, Peebles v Jeanfield/Bonnyrigg, or Camelon v Peebles/Jeanfield/Bonnyrigg... so don't see how they could all have been caught-up over the next 4-6 weeks.

It's a shame as the Final was supposed to be Sunday 24th March and that international weekend has often delivered good crowds over the last 10yrs (few held other dates). On the otherhand Edinburgh City might playing be in the Irn-Bru Cup Final that day - if they beat Connah's Quay Nomads in a fortnight - and San Marino v Scotland is on TV at 5pm.

Having been put back into good order over the last 5-10yrs the City Cup unfortunately went to pieces again last season... both SFs were held-over to the start of this season, and the Final (Edinburgh City v EK) still hasn't been played. City getting promoted means there are now 3 ties not just 1 - albeit the entrants are known after SFs not after Final.

It must be almost unique in that you qualify for that season's competition, not the following season's.

Jeanfield v Bonnyrigg won't be midweek as lights won't be ready any time soon.

Ideally it will be the 23rd if not before then.
