This is only mistake made it think sounds awkward. 7 groups of 5 and 8 of u would be better

Hopefully Hawick v Blackburn is not 4th August. The Berlin Beer Festival is calling my name that weekend  :guinness

Would be a great opener to our Senior career on 28th July (prays to the fixture Gods)

Wow, very surprised that with a section with two teams from east of Edinburgh in it it’s the West Lothian team, Blackburn, that has to travel all the way to Hawick in midweek - will they even get there in time when you consider the traffic on the Edinburgh bypass at the time they’ll have to be navigating their way around it?!

 Not thought out brilliantly.

:unsure::unsure: 57 matches, sections fixtures all drawn the same way  and youve got a problem with one game.

Just an observation that by far the longest journey in the section has been allocated to a midweek slot and includes the probability of a trip around the bypass just when it’s at its busiest.

If Blackburn have players who are based to their West or who work to their West then it might be nigh on impossible to get some of them there on time. I’m sure they were always aware of this possibility, but I’d have thought it would have been best avoided where at all possible.

Anyway, all that said, a grand job is being done in new and challenging circumstances and I’ve no doubt will continue to be done by the guy in charge of the fixtures.

Midweek to Hawick is a pain in the ass, Google makes it a 1hr 40 min drive in "normal" traffic conditions, only just over an hour from Gorebridge, but you just need to get on with it.  At least it's not the 4th when I couldn't go :guinness

Ye want tae try getting a team together and leaving for dalbeattie at 4 o c for a 7.45 kick off.To be fair the fixtures are generally no too bad though. We just been unlucky wi 2 postponements in 2 seasons I hope :blink:

I reckon it's easily under an hour from newtonloan toll to hawick. Just the dodgy a7 road to negotiate. :huh:

For us It's sometimes quicker to get to galashiels than it is to cross the toon for Spartans or strollers :wacko:

It's not a regular thing anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.  How good are Hawick pies for my dinner?

Decent pies and sausage rolls if I mind right  . If ye have a nominated driver the bar is at the back of the stand. It's a fair 15/20 min walk  from the centre to the ground for anyone that plans refreshments in the town.

A few pubs on the way though. The Mansfield bar on Mansfield Road and the Trinity just over the footbridge from the Mansfield.

Reminder of the format, taken from EOSL fixture-list:

36861906_1002406603256772_18118405136874

With only 1 match played (and Peebles in the 3-team section still to begin) it's not worth considering the best runner-up and best third-place... as you end-up with teams on 0 games and/or on 0pts. However some teams will be content with their day's work, while others feel they need a result in midweek (and Tynecastle realistically want to beat Peebles).

Here are the tables with the current section leaders and the runners-up shown. Due to their draw Crossgates and Linlithgow are deadlocked for the runner-up place in Section C, while due to identical wins Dunipace and Musselburgh are deadlocked for the top 2 positions in Section H.

Section A

Blackburn      3pts, +7

-----------------------

Tranent        3pts, +5

=======================

Hawick         0pts, -5

Arniston       0pts, -7

-----------------------

LTHV           3pts, +2

=======================

Tweedmouth     0pts, -2

Ormiston       0pts, -3

Section C

Penicuik       3pts

-----------------------

= Crossgates   1pt,  0, F0

= Linlithgow   1pt,  0, F0

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sauchie        0pts
Section D
Haddington     3pts, +2
-----------------------
Dalkeith       3pts, +1
=======================
Heriot-W Uni   0pts, -1
Coldstream     0pts, -2
Section E
Edinburgh Utd  3pts, +6
-----------------------
Camelon        3pts, +3
=======================
Dunbar         0pts, -3
Eyemouth       0pts, -6
Section F
Bonnyrigg      3pts, +4, F5
-----------------------
Hill of Beath  3pts, +4, F4
=======================
Stir Uni EOS   0pts, -4, F1
Inverkeithing  0pts, -4, F0
Section G
Newtongrange   3pts, +6
-----------------------
Broxburn       3pts, +1
=======================
Dundonald      0pts, -1
Craigroyston   0pts, -6
Section H
= Dunipace     3pts, +3, F3
= Musselburgh  3pts, +3, F3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

= Burntisland  0pts, -3, F0

= Preston      0pts, -3, F0

Section I

Jeanfield      3pts, +2

-----------------------

Oakley         3pts, +1

=======================

Leith          0pts, -1

Bo’ness        0pts, -2

Section J

St Andrews     3pts

-----------------------

Peebles        0pts,  0

=======================

Tynecastle     0pts, -3

Midweek's card looks particularly interesting where todays winners and losers each meets... that happens in Section B (LTHV v Easthouses and Tweedmouth v Ormiston); Section E (Camelon v Edinburgh Utd and Dunbar v Eyemouth); Section F (Hill of Beath v Bonnyrigg and Stirling Uni EOS v Inverkeithing); and Section I (Oakley v Jeanfield and Bo'ness v Leith). They could put the winners respectively out front or back in contention - but leave the losers in trouble. In the other sections wins for the clubs already with 3pts could eliminate the losers with a game to spare - and set the winners up for a final day decider for top spot.

LTHV, Hill of Beath, Newtongrange and Oakley find themselves a particularly strong position starting with away wins and having 2 home games to end... Ormiston, Coldstream, Inverkeithing, Craigroyston, Preston and Leith find themselves in potentially vulnerable places beginning with home defeats and having 2 away games to finish. Crossgates do have 1pt, but it was their only home match.

Section D

Dalkeith       6pts, +8

-----------------------

Haddington     6pts, +4

=======================

Heriot-W Uni   0pts, -3

Coldstream     0pts, -9

Dalkeith and Haddington have qualified and do battle to finish top and bypass the League Cup Preliminary.

Heriot-Watt and Coldstream can only play for a ludicrously long shot at being best-third-place.

Section E

Camelon        6pts

-----------------------

Edinburgh Utd  3pts, +4

=======================

Dunbar         3pts,  0

Eyemouth       0pts

Camelon qualify and likely to top the section. Dunbar will have to beat Edinburgh Utd to finish 2nd but a draw meaning 4pts and level GD could compete for best-third-place. Eyemouth exits.

Section G

Newtongrange   6pts

-----------------------

Broxburn       4pts

=======================

Craigroyston   1pt

Dundonald      0pts

Newtongrange grab their place in the League Cup but must avoid defeat to Broxburn to top the pool. They would need a big goal swing to be overtaken by Craigroyston. Dundonald bid adieu.

Section A

Tranent        6pts,+18

-----------------------

Blackburn      6pts,+12

=======================

Hawick         0pts,-10

Arniston       0pts,-20

Blackburn and Tranent qualify, and will duel for the top spot. Hawick and Arniston lick their wounds.

Section B

LTHV           6pts

-----------------------

Easthouses     3pts, -2, F3

=======================

Ormiston       3pts, -2, F2

Tweedmouth     0pts

LTHV qualify, realistically, given their GD... but any of the others could yet be runners-up.

Section C

Penicuik       4pts

-----------------------

Sauchie        3pts
=======================

Crossgates     2pts

Linlithgow     1pt

Anything could still happen here: tableproppers Linlithgow hosts Penicuik, Sauchie hosts Crossgates.

Section F

Bonnyrigg      6pts

-----------------------

Hill of Beath  3pts, +2

=======================

Inverkeithing  3pts, -2

Stir Univ EOS  0pts

Bonnyrigg qualify, realistically, given their GD... behind that anyone can make it through.

Section H

Dunipace       6pts, +5
-----------------------

Musselburgh    6pts, +4

=======================

Burntisland    0pts, -4

Preston        0pts, -5

Dunipace and Musselburgh qualify and cross swords for the vital top place. Burntisland and Preston think what might've been.

Section I

Jeanfield      6pts

-----------------------

Oakley         3pts, -1, F3

=======================

Bo'ness        3pts, -1, F2

Leith          0pts

Jeanfield qualify. Oakley and Bo'ness vie for 2nd. Leith bow out.

Section J

St Andrews     3pts

-----------------------

Peebles        1pt,   0

=======================

Tynecastle     1pt,  -3  (played both games)

St Andrews qualify without playing. Peebles can join them by avoiding 4+ goal defeat, but can top the section by beating them. Tynecastle wait nervously.

Best-third-place is currently Dunbar United (3pts / GD 0).

In the end it all worked out fine. Kick off was pushed back to 7:45 and, in practice, everyone would have been ready for 7:30 and Blackburn had  a full squad travelling. In spite of the scoreline it felt a much longer journey home afterwards!
