South Challenge Cup 2018-19

Rout of the South league sides as many took heavy beatings and solitary Threave make it through. Particularly surprising were Bonnyton going down at home to Preston and Mid Annandale's thrashing at Edinburgh Utd. Two conceded double-figures.

Mixed day for LL sides as Dalbeattie lost to Sauchie, Gala lost to Musselburgh, Vale lost to Jeanfield, and in perhaps the surprise of the day LTHV put out Spartans... However it was not all bad news as Stirling Uni beat Dalkeith, EK beat Bo'ness and Edinburgh Uni beat Oakley. East Stirlingshire made heavy work of Glasgow Uni but won by a solitary goal.

It seems only Dalbeattie v Sauchie went to extra-time.

Lochmaben 0-5 Kelty Hearts
East Kilbride 2-0 Bo'ness Utd

So the Last 32 - due on October 13th - features 22 East clubs, 9 Lowland and just 1 South.

In proportional terms 58% of East sides have made it through, 60% of Lowland, and just 7% of South.

Lowland League (9)
BSCG, Civil Service, Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, East Stirlingshire, Edinburgh Uni, Gretna, Kelty, Stirling Uni

East of Scotland League (22)
(A) Coldstream, Hill of Beath, Musselburgh, Newtongrange, Peebles, Penicuik, Tweedmouth/Leith
(B) Bonnyrigg, Burntisland, Dundonald, LTHV, Sauchie, Tranent, Tynecastle
(C) Camelon, Broxburn, Edinburgh Utd, Inverkeithing, Jeanfield, Linlithgow, Ormiston, Preston

South of Scotland League (1)
Threave

Tweedmouth v Leith is of course tomorrow afternoon.

Among the EOSL sides Hawick, Tweedmouth/Leith, Blackburn and Heriot-Watt suffer ignominy of having exited all 4 cups already. Of course they have the remaining consolation of the King Cup which begins in spring.

Bonnyrigg, Tranent, Broxburn and Camelon are still in all 4 tournaments - as do Civil Service, Kelty and Stirling Uni.

Tweedmouth 0-2 Leith creditable result for home side: leaves the Last 32 draw entry as above.

Only sides left outside the central belt are Gretna, Coldstream, Peebles, Jeanfield and Threave.

I'm hoping for Gretna away - that and Dalbeattie are the only LL grounds I've not been to, and Star are out.

Can you confirm BSC won 5-2? Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday have it as 5-22...

Not only that, but all in the South of Scotland Southern Counties Challenge Cup - presumably a b*****dised love child of this cup, the Southern Counties Cup, and South of Scotland Amateur Cup.
