HibeeJibee
QFs of senior non-league football's premier cup this Saturday. Tie of the round must be in Midlothian where runaway EOS League Conference B leaders Bonnyrigg host East Stirlingshire who have come onto a good run on form. In the Borders it will take a huge shock for Coldstream to overcome LL leaders East Kilbride. Hill of Beath will be favourites at Sauchie although this potentially looks a neatly poised tie. Stirling Uni will be favourites at Forthbank but LTHV will fancy the chances of expanding their cup shock collection.
The Mantis
Semifinalists then: Bonnyrigg, EK, Haws and Stirling Uni. I saw Bonnyrigg brush aside the Shire in a game spoiled by the wind, although it took a softish penalty after 65 and a freak o.g. to break them down. Shire had one cleared off the line late in the first half but really deserved nothing from the game. Second half with the wind behind them they struggled for an out ball and relied on the long punt to Ross Allum. Andy Rodgers was red carded late on, apparently for dissent and/or retaliation, then as he made his way off, appeared to be hooked by Kerr Young who was also sent off. A meeting between Rose and EK will be a mouth watering prospect, whether it’s the semi or the final.
HibeeJibee
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic 2-0 East Stirlingshire Coldstream 0-7 East Kilbride Sauchie 1-1 Hill of Beath Hawthorn (aet - FT 1-1, 2-4p) University of Stirling 5-3 Lothian Thistle HV Never in doubt at Home Park where the hosts conceded 2 early goals to their Lanarkshire opponents then shipped another before HT and 4 more in the second half. Much closer with the ties in Clackmannanshire and Stirlingshire... having trailed Sauchie equalised and went right to penalties only to lose-out, whilst LTHV led 3 times only for 3 student goals in last 20 min to swing it. I saw Bonnyrigg ease their way to a fairly comfortable victory over a disappointing East Stirlingshire side, who while creating occasional chances looked second-best in most areas of the park. Their opener came from a penalty - which not all around me thought was definitely a foul - and their second from an unusual situation at a corner: twice the ball was replaced, having moved in the wind, then when struck quickly at the third attempt Rogers had stepped away from the near post and in attempt to cover ended-up putting a fine diving header past his own goalkeeper. It is worth saying that it would have been a considerably wider margin of victory were it not for the heroics of 'Shire stopper Barclay, especially in the opening 45 min, the first of which could be save of the season. Rogers got a 2nd yellow late-on and a Bonnyrigg defender a straight red in a 'melee' provoked as he retired. So the Semi-Finalists are a pair from the Lowland and a pair from the EOS. Bonnyrigg and Hill of Beath feature on their debuts... EK and Stirling Uni have lifted it twice and once before respectively. Boomtown Boy
Anyone know when semi draw takes place?
Marten
I've also been in Bonnyrigg today, the reports above seem fair. The penalty happened right in front of me. I think it was soft, but still one in the "can be given" category. Rose were deserved winners today though.

West slotting in. The rest of the east told to bugger off to the EoS. TJ and IM apologised to the EoS. Free licenses all round with floodlights.
