Bo'ness United 2018/19

I think the top 2 go through from each group.
Jeanfield 6 points with +4 goals.
Oakley and Boness 3 points with -1 goals BUT Oakley have scored 3 goals and the BU's only 2.
Leith 0 points and -2 goals.

So basically the BU's need to beat Oakley. Any other result and we are out.

The group winners are through to secondo round with best runners up. The rest of runders up and best third place go into preliminary round

I thought we bossed the first half and should have been out of sight. The ball was on the deck, there was some decent passing and movement but the finishing was poor.
Second half I expected an avalanche of goals but as so often the BU's made the fans suffer. Substitutions wrecked the shape of the team and long balls up the pitch seemed to be the plan of attack. Once again it didn't work and giving away possession so many times encouraged our opponents. The Leith goal was a stinker for the defence. Two players cannot block a cross and a midget heads in the ball between 2 centrehalfs. Leith had a great chance to equalise but Marshall pulled off a fine save.
Last 10 minutes were torturous but we held on for a deserved victory but it should have been so much easier.

As has been said, first half there was only one team in it and we should’ve gone in 4-0 up at half time. Far better with big McKenzie up front through the middle and thought he was excellent tonight.

Second half I though the 3 substitutions didn’t need to be happen, albeit I don’t know if any of the players were carrying injuries or took a knock.

A win nonetheless and on to Oakley next.

The guys started showing much more energy than at the weekend.  Their passing was sharper and more accurate too.  It took a while but the deserved goal came and we really should have had the game won at half-time.  It was strange that 2 of the 3 subs who came on were older than the players replaced, so our energy levels weren't going to improve!

In the end only a one on one save by Marshall won us the game but it would have been criminal for us not to.

Several players showed good form.  Dev & Syme were both solid at full-back.  Big Aldin won everything in the air and has a decent left foot too. Gemmell was everywhere as usual, getting stuck in and MacKenzie up front had a good game despite receiving no protection from the ref.  MOM though has to be Morgan.  Made one and scored one, he is beginning to look like a replacement for Steve Pittman.

And the biggest laugh of the night was at the offensive language the Leith player screamed at his teammate. Not going to repeat it on here though as the Mods would go into meltdown.

He did realise there were 3 balls on the park 2 inflatables and his own bawheid.

How the team was set up was a big improvement.

Josh McDonald - excellent match - in front of the back four gave a bit more scope to the midfield in particular Morgan who showed why he was well thought of at Sauchie.

Still looked like fitness levels need to be upped as we looked a bit stretched in the last 15 minutes. Overall a big improvement from last Saturday.  However, as they say one swallow doesn’t make a summer.
