Bo'ness United 2018/19

Hard fought victory today against a well organised team we seemed lack ideas when Morgan went off but through to the next round  MOTM  will snowden

Snowden or wee Dev for Bo’ness MOTM. Both played really well.

Overall MOTM would have to be the big ginger centre half for Crossgates. Never missed a thing nearly all game. Struggled with cramp in extra time though but until then he bossed it.

All credit to Crossgates they defended well especially their No4. They didn't carry a goal threat I think probably a couple of chances. For us, Hunter had a chance to emulate Campbell with 4 clear cut chances and we were over elaborate and their defence was well organised. Their keeper had two top class saves - just doing his job.

Oh! forgot to mention the referee it was of course Duncan Smith ably assisted by two young ladies. He as usual lived up to his reputation of being the worst referee in the East if not the North, South and West as well.

Extra time saw us through with a  Keasty special. However, on the downside the injuries to Morgan and Wright took a bit of the gloss of the victory.

After conceding 7 midweek, they were never going to be as soft a touch this time.

The injuries to Morgan & Wright are a real concern.  The lack of dead-ball delivery was evident after Morgan went off.  For all his other attributes, Dev is not a dead-ball expert.

The most depressing part of yesterday was when it was announced extra-time was to be played.  A palpable sigh could be heard as shoulders slumped around the ground.  At least Keasty made it worthwhile!

Two of the subs, Prentice & Rintoul, added a fair bit of spark when they entered the fray but for me MacKenzie was MOTM, showing guts after a nasty head wound, he tormented them constantly and was extremely unlucky with a screamer heading for the top corner until the 'keeper tipped it over.

Just a quick word about the enclosure side official.  Oh dear!  Inept doesn't begin to cover it.  Summed up by the farcical situation of her raising her flag for a throw, realising it was the wrong way and changing it, then appearing to gesture for the ref to come to her, then changing her mind amid flags pointing here there and everywhere.

Hope the injuries to Morgan and Wright aren’t anything serious. Morgan looks to have been a great signing, and hopefully Grey is fit again soon as both are excellent strikers of dead ball. BU need to bring in another forward though as the front three of Keast, McKenzie & Wright picks itself every week. Need some competition.

Prefer extra time to penalties.

Yes, not too difficult to signal the correct way for a throw in. Forgot to mention the blatant push on Campbell which was a clear penalty and Smith had a full on view.

McKenzie does put in a shift in but sometimes over does it when a pass would be better but terracing football is easy.

Going to be another toughie this week.  They were missing top striker Scott Hynd who was in Malaga last week.  Been trying to trip the wee ginger up at work all week with no success :)

I hope Morgan & Wright have shaken off last weeks knocks but not too hopeful.

Being a league match, this is far more important than last week, so full effort required again and maybe a bit of luck in front of goal for big Hunts.
