Bo'ness United 2018/19

Loved that top

Same and still do. I mind hundreds of folk had the Nike ones. Think it’s no far off 10 year old or there about. Should’ve stuck with the shirts by decent makes and we’d have shifted a few and brought a bit of £ into the club instead of going for the el cheapo not very nice Stanno cack.

I thought Bo'ness were getting 3G put down ?most junior teams will be playing their 20s on a friday night at local 3G due to floodlights etc .  A 20s & youth pathway is vital to progress in the seniors, i think its something the committee need to look into, I am surprised they didn't approach local boys club teams to come on board, most junior teams have worked hard over the last 2/3 months to get something into place by doing this.

It looks like the late decision to join didnt help, maybe next season.

As you under 20’s play Friday night but bu don’t have facilities to support it they also no plans to start an under 20’s  bo’ness united don’t have a  youth set up they have a loose connection to community club but not together ,As you say other junior clubs like Bathgate Linlithgow Blackburn camelon have all joined up thinking. Need to look at bu committee why no joined up thinking with kids football  strange set up in bo’ness

Camelon and Linlithgow haven’t got strong links to there community set up  , camelon have just started a plan to use the stennymuir teams as a pathway  and  Linlithgow have  facility’s but there’s is for community teams and nothing to do with the committee  off Linlithgow rose

Nothing to do with any licence.

So no input from Bo'ness United at all? Was there any of the club committee at the meeting Pat?

How did the AGM go tonight? I couldn't make it through.

How are the club finances looking this year? Heard different stories this week about how much is in the bank, surely the club could stump up some cash to help with park developments as they will be using it, or will the BU just be renting the entire park at an hourly rate once it's complete?

So in summary the NPA now have to find £50K of additional funding to allow the work to start in April 2019.

Can you explain the "extra remedial work" mentioned at Option 3. How would it differ to how the mineshaft issue is being dealt with under the other 2 options ?

Bit baffled with the "going to the wall" suggestion made by BU's. Yes potentially there may be less games this season if we get kicked out the cups early but it sounds a bit doom and gloom.

Still think they should’ve considered upping sticks from Newtown and starting from scratch at the site of the old shirt factory. Don’t know how feasible that idea is but it seems Newtown Park is just one issue after another.

I make it 15 league + 4 cup games at home last season.

Only 12 league games this season, but already 5 home cup games confirmed and a good chance of more. Less travelling as well with Dundonald the furthest north club and one trip to Eyemouth (same as going to Dundee last season). No Linlithgow game confirmed but surely you won't be worse off than last season?

Dynamics are IMO fairly simple. History was that the piece of land which is known as Newtown Park never belonged to Bo'ness United or for that matter Falkirk Council. It was gifted to the people of Bo'ness for the purposes of football and the trustees were a bunch of local worthies such as the local bank manager, church minister, town clerk, provost, pit manager etc.... Because of this nobody clearly "owned" Newtown Park so getting funding to develop the park would be impossible.
Legal advice was taken and the best option for all to take matters forward was the creation of the NPA who were given ownership of Newtown Park. The NPA have done really well in taking things forward and getting so much funding.

Cont'd from above.
NPA objective is to create a facility that is for the whole community. The 3G would allow various Bo'ness teams to play there including BUCFC . There is an understanding that BUFC would be given priority for their matches.
So NPA are doing the work, BUFC get first dibs on Match days and BUCFC will also be using the facility.
Hope that makes the dynamics clear.

Never going to happen. I heard the rough ground which was previously the shirt factory is NOT owned by the council. The council do own the grass area to the North of it but you need both areas.
Using both areas you could get the current size of pitch in but the areas behind the goals would be much shorter.

Clubs in East Juniors previously had a minimum 33/29 games (30/26 league + Junior Cup + East Region Cup + Fife Lothian Cup), but it has now become 29 games, as league games fallen to 22 and new 4-game sectional League Cup introduced.

Clubs in EOSL had and have a minimum 31 games (24 league + 3 qualifying league + Alex Jack Cup + South Challenge Cup + EOS Qualifying Cup + King Cup).

As it happens Bo'ness were drawn 2 home games in EOSQL, so their minimum before considering knockout ties is 14... compared to 15 in East Juniors last season and 13 this season.

However they've also home draws in Alex Jack Cup R1, EQC R1 and King Cup R2 to make 17 - and before possibly advancing in those or the South Challenge Cup or reaching the League Cup.
