edinabear
So the likelihood is there'll already be Glasgow Uni (already licensed), Clydebank, Girvan, Strathclyde Uni in the new West of Scotland Senior League. At the very least they'll need another 6. Any talk of who else is interested?
happy
So is this happening or speculation? Haven't been on future thread for a week and now 64 pages behind, been busy.
BANKIEBILL
i doubt there will be anything happening regarding WOS league being in place for next season. Following season however ....
Sancho Panza
what a totally misleading title to this thread, the 4 teams mentioned will be in the same league as last season
Marten
I can see a WoSFL happening, but it will be from 2019, can't see it being any earlier.
Ginaro
Surely too late now for 18/19, especially if the winners can't be promoted unless the LL changes their rules. Another team to add would be Dalbeattie Star if their form continues and are 15th/16th in the LL again, as they would probably be too strong for the SoS. Threave might be the only SoS to fancy moving up, less travel than the LL.
kenny131
With what I,m hearing don't expect the big ayrshire teams to be involved maybe the buffs at a push which is incredible short sightedNess with the current goings on.

Not really any great loss if the South Ayrshire ones dont, they want to remain junior and looking at the thread about nock/talbot they only really seem to care about local rivals. would like Beith, Ladeside and Buffs to be involved along with Largs. Im sure it’ll be a great addition to the senior leagues.
edinabear
I would think kilwinning rangers would be a stick on given their recent comments

Talbot 78
The likes of Talbot, Cumnock, Beith,Kilbirnie and possibly Buffs are not daft. These teams if they go will go together. Despite mutual dislike and possible hatred there is too much history and allegiances for just one to go then another. I expect if and when it happens all the big west teams will go together.

Thing is though even if all these clubs go together to a WoS, they will have to accept that at some point they will not all stay together if someone gets promoted to the LL. So even if just one of the teams values playing at tier 5/getting a licence above staying with other clubs - a bit like Kelty - they could steal a march on the rest and be in the LL within one season. Then you're in the same situation in the east where other clubs see the benefits of leaving and the trickle becomes a flood...

There will be open applications so not every club will get in the top league if applications are numerous.

It might be a lot more fractious if a WoSFL take applications for a set number like the LL. You've got the obvious 16 juniors in the West Premiership, 0-2 relegated clubs from the LL and those possibly interested from the SoS, amateurs & other junior leagues. If clubs apply, they aren't going to be expected to be turned down.

If clubs apply, they aren't going to be expected to be turned down. Not saying turned down, but its possible not every club would be in the top division. Got to consider that its not just a league for junior clubs, there are existing licensed clubs, clubs from outwith the sjfa who have every right to be equally considered. That and for example if Cumbernauld Colts and Gretna are relegated next year then they’ve got every right to have first shout. So when you look at it that way its very much far from ‘the top 16 junior clubs’ forming the WOSL if it is formed apart from the SJFA, which I have every faith it will be.

Marten
Wouldn't Bonnyton Thistle be interested in this considering they are now pretty much the odd one out geographically in the SoSFL?
Inanimate Carbon Rod
I'll agree with you there but it would be foolish not to accept them. Course it would. Fun though But in all seriousness there wouldnt be much in the way of sporting integrity if anyone was turned away. Talbot could actually be a cracking senior team if your fans just actually had the vision to see it, you obviously already pay senior wages and the only thing missing from Beechwood is floodlights ( and a projectile free parking space for visiting buses ). So why not just look a bit beyond South Ayrshire, theres no reason why you can’t better Brechin City who ok had a shit season last year but still played at the second highest level in Scottish Football being from a town of similar size. No one wants to see a West League actually happen without Cumnock and Talbot (even if I personally dont enjoy visiting). You as Talbot fans have to view it as the next step in your clubs journey, because if you dont you’ll get left behind.
