senorsoupe
It seems a bit surreal that a game in Scotland would be called off because of a lack of rain
PELE
Elgin chairman said he can't make it rain. How about watering the affected area. Or, water the whole pitch.

roberts
Cowden players wanted a brush an shovels, said they could sort it, but ref refused. The pitch is dry and bumpy. But no different to all games so far this pre-season and on. I used to play on tarmac!
marty_j
Seems like utter nonsense from ref.
Am Muilleach
I still think there is no excuse for this. Surely they have been watering the pitch. Disgraceful if not.
Cityfan
The comments from Tatters are ridiculous, it was raining this morning, yesterday and several times throughout this week and last. It isn't even a new problem as Jim McInally was moaning about it at the end of last season. I wonder if perhaps the new drainage system they put in a few seasons ago has worked too well and caused this problem? Whatever the reason, painful to be a laughing stock yet again for off field reasons.
roberts
Apparently the heavy rain earlier this morning washed through sand to expose gravel. Ref was worried for injuries. Surely a rake a re-lay sand would have been fine? Small area no more than 10ft2
big al
A lot of folk are quick to slag Cowden, facilities etc., but this is an absolute joke. what a total embarrassment, there must be some kind of punishment. It’s so pathetic it’s barely believable.

David W
Big fine incoming I'd imagine. Not the first time they've had a match called off because of rank amateur behaviour; remember the Rangers fiasco they got a 25k fine for? That said, Gavin Ross was the referee and he's a qualified idiot.
Garrowhillclyde
What a laughing stock. The stupidity of Tatters's comments may well give a pointer to where the problem lies.
cowden0
On the plus side, it's one less game without sheerin possibly.
WeAreElgin
The pitch is incredibly dry, although the fact that it is mentioned in the first two paragraphs in the programme obviously shows we had plenty of time to do something about it. Another embarrassing postponement.

enclosureview
Every so often those that run Elgin City cause us paying loyal fans to cringe shake our heads and pray for some sanity. Sure the ref could have exercised a bit of common sense also though.
Muzza81
Elgin are an absolute shambles off the pitch. Whoever is in charge there doesn’t know what they are doing.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing is par for the course when you let these glorified social clubs into the senior leagues. And yet this particular "glorified social club" (who have been in "the senior leagues" nearly as long as Clyde) are above you in the table, having played a game less...

Just had a rant about this in the Elgin thread, our chairman is a fitness coach with no business or boardroom creditenals that has ended up in his position by a lot of good luck and dodgy shareholding deals, he's not the right person to be running this football club.
