Just pure speculation, but you wonder if Liverpool are expecting a big sale. Its rare for teams to spend over £150m these days without a sale worth half of that.

Might stick a fiver on Salah to Real tbh.

Think they will only have a Net Spend of about £100 million in 2018 after the Alisson deal.

Not a lot in EPL terms these days.

Keep your fiver in your pocket.

2/3 years of excellent transfer business and a return to the Champions League means the moneys there to spend :)

There will be quite a few going out though, Mignolet, Ward, Sturridge, Ings etc and it’ll mount up.

Ward away to Leicester for £12M.

Crazy price for a 3rd choice keeper. It'll be interesting to see how Mignolet is worth.

The thought Karius as number 2 should have Liverpool fans praying that Alisson passes his medical.

It's hilarious that Karius, Mignolet and Ward are under contract until 2021!

And you are still paying a large chunk Bogdan's wages at Hibs.

Btw, Markovic is under contract for this season too.

Kinda fucks up your hilarious post from last night as well, Nostradamus.

Two posts up, Becker has signed already as well.

Carry on though, you are funny.

You seem, upset!

Ward , after Karius fucked up at Chester, was supposed to be the new number one last week.

Now he's been sold!

Net spend is not a thing.

Football clubs break down the cost of a transfer over the length of the contract.

Transfer fee + total wages ÷ length of contract = cost per year

Obviously selling players (and getting their wages off the books) helps with other transfers, but the transfers fees in/out per year/transfer window are largely meaningless.

Fair enough but you should probably be aiming that at the guy who says Liverpool will need to sell cause they had “spent £150 million”.

when you get a minute, would you mind explaining that to every fucking dullard and simpleton who covers football in the British media, and the 99.9% of people who "contribute" to football fora (specifically The Guardian, which is a breeding ground of ignorance to such an extent that it defies understanding)

of course, when accountants start universally balancing their books over arbitrary periods of time such as "last season" or "the transfer window" this stuff will be come relevant, but as you say, as long as every single major financial business, corporate, fiscal and sporting endeavour across the entire world insist on sticking in the mud and viewing finances by the aggregation of income and expenditure over the course of concurrent financial years, "nett spend" is complete and utter bollocks for anything other than an instant, ill-thought out headline or knee-jerk reaction - now, there's a surprise in this day and age, eh ?

thanks  ;)

Zaha's apparently said that he wants to leave Palace.

If he stays in England, I'd imagine he'll become a bench warmer for a top six club.

Zaha screams of a Bournemouth or Fulham signing IMO.
